these look like shit, both in presentation and mix preparation. Icings were obviously put on while donuts were cold (pussies can't handle heat on fingers).

Old fashioned looks like mix was either too wet, if you want to achieve a good flowering of your old fashioned, it either needs to be drier in the mix, or fried off at a lower temperature (although it should be 325° anyways)

Sucks being a New Englander sometimes, especially since there's never really any Tim Hortons in my state at all. They used to have a few here many years ago, but knowing how popular Dunkin' Donuts around these parts, they just didn't seem to measure up on that same level of popularity that Dunkin has. I had a donut made with salt and vinegar chips on top, it had a slightly acidic tasting glaze on it too. It sounds fucking disgusting but honestly it was pretty good. Not something I'd gorge myself on but having just the one was a really nice experience. The balance of sweet, salty, and acidic was perfect.

I'm in the PNW and I will say this; voodoo donuts is fucking shit. It's shit. It's like an open secret that they serve unsold donuts the next day and that they premake large batches for the week on an as needed basis. It's a total crap shoot whether or not you'll get fresh donuts or if you'll go home with a $15 box of Styrofoam. Oh yeah that's the other thing; it's overpriced to hell and back.

If you want to find extremely good donuts, look for small town shacks. There's a literal 200'X200' shack in Olympia Washington called Twister Donuts that's run by a hispanic family that makes the best fucking donuts I have ever had for $7 a dozen. If you go in at 4:30 (30 minutes before closing time) the nice man behind the counter will literally give you two dozen for $7 because they make fresh stock every single morning and afternoon. It's a blessing.

detroit area has better donuts. if you're in the waterford area (near pontiac), there's a place called Pete's oven bakery, they make what's essentially a cinnamon honey bun, and then cover it in peanut butter frosting or maple frosting. it's kind of disgusting, but there's no way you won't smash the shit out of it once started.
