The “flavors” are just disgustingly saccharine syrup that inevitably taint every drink that comes out of it. Only one person can use it at a time. Any kind of soda you have to dispense into a paper cup is disgusting trash. Just figure out what sort of flavor you want and then buy bottles of it from Amazon like a normal person. At this point in history I'm pretty sure every flavor you could get out of that freestyle machine is something that already exists in bottled form under some brand or another out there. Although I also don't think combination meme flavors are worth it regardless, regular Coke is already a perfect flavor, people just get greedy and always want something new.

The opportunity for a range of flavors is great, but it does generally taste worse than older-school fastfood sodamachines. the flavors are kinda... muted? and they seem to have maybe a different consistency or texture to the carbonation, I don't know what it is.

Pros, widespread access to orange coke (based combo) and the lemonlime unsweetened dasani is v good
Cons, doesn't taste as good as other machines in general, chipotle has better coke, McDonald's is the gold standard, Portillo's, Sonic?

Industrial designer here. They have lots of problems.

1) information overload confuses some people

2) even if you know exactly what you want it can take some time to get it. for example, you walk up and you're thinking you want "mountain dew". You don't see an icon for that on the main screen, so that means you have to figure out which sub-menu it's under. Even if you know that from prior experience you still have to do multiple touches to get to that menu. Factor in that sometimes the screen touches don't register right away it takes even longer.

says who? The machine never explicitly states that it's touch feedback. There's a big shiny button that says push and nothing else, when you start working in tech you begin to notice just how far people will go to ignore context clues and how much you have to dumb things down.

sure it does. It has a screen on it with obvious "buttons" to touch. The screen also has that special coating or whatever it is that makes some kind of touchscreens work. You can see the matrix of little dots on it. What else would it be if not a touchscreen?

Yeah, the lag combined with the lack of any kind of feedback is a problem. It wouldn't be a big deal if the screen flashed or beeped or vibrated to let you know that it detected your touch, but lack of feedback + lag does indeed give the impression that the machine is broken. It's poor design for sure.

Pic related is far superior. It has no lag and it can even dispense to multiple customers at the same time. Plus it still has the "extra flavors" like the one posted in OP. And better yet, you can choose exactly how much extra flavor you want.
