Are crock pots/slow cookers a useless tool? Any recipes you recommend? Tell me how dumb I am because I just bought one on a whim.

Learn to cook, my man. Crockpots are for haggard soccer moms who feed their cuck husband and 4 austistic mongoloid children plates of brown slop every night because she doesn't care and she regrets ever getting knocked up and marrying you and she resents your retard kids for ruining her figure and giving her a blown out belly buttom and grand canyon stretch marks on her belly, thighs, and tits.

Return it and buy an instant pot. It does the same thing, in less time, and extremely useful other things that crock pots cannot do.

You sound like a working class chump. I bet you thought it would be a great "investment", how you would wake up to a warm, healthy breakfast to start off your long day. Maybe, you even had a couple thoughts about all the other nifty little uses you could find for the thing, how it would help you cook healthier meals in general, shed a couple pounds off the old gut, boost your confidence around work and with the ladies. Yeah, maybe that slow cooker would start your life cooking again, wouldn't it? I can see your strained hands holding the box and reading through it carefully at the store. A little bit pricey, but you're the type of guy who thinks everything is more than you can spend, aren't you. And look what happened to you. Look what the slow cooker did to you. Fucked you over, and made you clean it like a useless bitch. You don't even fucking like oatmeal. Piece of shit, you've been repeating those three words your whole life, haven't you. Yeah, how was work after that piece of shit fucked you over? I bet it was on your mind the whole day, you probably didn't say shit to nobody. Can't be telling people about your mistakes. How your little fix yourself plan, failed you. Don't want people to start thinking you're the failure. You're the piece of shit, all along. You don't want that do you? You don't want to be the piece of shit everybody secretly whispers about, do you? Was your father a piece of shit like you? I bet he never had a slow cooker. He had a woman, a house, a damn good job. I bet it's slow cooking you the fuck alive, isn't it. Comparing yourself to him. How one day when all the steam runs our of your life, you'll discover how you're nothing more than burnt shit to be scraped off and thrown in the trash.

I'm an average home cook, I can make basic stuff but I'm a pretty lazy, hence the slow cooker. When autumn comes and it starts getting chillier pots and stews are a nice meal. But I guess you're right, you could make these with just a skillet and a cast iron pot.

I'm thinking game (hares, moose, grouse). How's fish, does it get overcooked easily? Wouldn't want it to dissolve entirely due to long cooking times. I rarely cook beef, what are some good cuts to use in slow cooking?

No. They are not useless. They are good for making sub-par stews.

I use one to keep side dishes warm at large dinners. Mostly mashed potatoes.

Any meat that takes forever to break down is good in a crockpot. It’s great for making lazy pulled pork. For when you can’t be bothered with smoking meats.

I had plenty of slow cooker meals I enjoyed in my youth, but whenI finally move out of my parents attic I expect to get a dutch oven as a housewarming gift from a family friend. I think that's probably better for the same meals, though I'm not sure.

It gets a bad rep because retards making minimal effort think a slow cooker will make up for it. If you prep everything the same way you would using an oven itll turn out fine, if you just drop a chuck roast and a halved onion in with a cup of water it will suck ass

This. All a slow cooker does is allow you to safely leave something cooking with low energy cost. It's not magic.

>> No.11227865

>>11227451
You'll have it hot and fast and with meat so tough you won't be able to chew it, unless you pick a crap kind like chicken.

Some things need to stew for a time. And you can either watch your pot of your stew for 1-2 hours, stirring, making sure it doesn't overboil, refilling water that evaporated, making sure nothing sticks to the bottom and burns, or just dump the same ingredients into a crock pot, leave it for 8 hours and come to a ready stew of about the same quality, possibly a bit better.

Yeah. It won't produce better results that *properly* stewing stuff, but it's much harder to fuck it up. Less effort in cooking, although preparation is about the same.

Not if you are a productive member of society. Being able to throw a bunch of stuff in there in the morning, and come home from class/work to a good and healthy meal is pretty great. If you're a neat like most of the people ITT apparently are, that won't be of much benefit.

So only the first recipe in that list says to thaw before dumping into the slow cooker.

Are the rest of them dumped in still frozen?

>> No.11232205

Sounds ok, but stews get boring after a while. I think I would not use it that much. Even when I come home after work, I'd rather just make a stir fry or something, I am usually done when the rice is cooked anyway so it doesn't take much time and cooking is relaxing.

You can recreate a 'slide-off-the-bone' chicken easily, and it really makes for a fine chilli.

Crockpot beef stew is based as fuck

I chop onions, celery, potatos, and some chuck beef and throw it in with beef broth and cook it on low while im at work. When i get back i'll make a thickening slurry out of flower and red wine and mix that in amd let it cook some more while im at class.
