How does Subway manage to be so consistently superior to all other sandwich places? I can't even eat at other places anymore, it just disappoints me too much thinking about how my food from those alternatives isn't Subway quality.

Subway is the poorest sandwich I can find within 10 kilometers of my house. Literally any baker makes a better sandwich and usually cheaper as well with much higher grade ingredients. I'm guessing you're an American and that the overall poor quality in the US has something to do with it.

It's not all over the US that people have this opinion. Most of us, especially on the East coast, have much better options when it comes to sandwiches. Subway is flyover staple.

I don't go to subway for higher grade ingredients. I go for food. Altogether, a "footlong" with all the ingredients I want won't cost me more than $9.50. A dickass white boy 7~8inch with day old bread costs over $10

The real tax is lower income people like yourself were tricked into thinking a few dollars difference on a meal expense is what you should be focusing on with your money. If you're anywhere close to being significantly impacted financially with a couple dollars a day more or less on food then you have a much deeper preexisting problem of earning way too little. It's the same thing with the coupon and sales deal rackets. You're being trained to focus on these tiniest of pittances so you'll ignore all the people around you making several times more than your income.

This. Their "footlong" is the shortest measured at 9 inches, meat is folded thin, chicken breasts are dry, tomatoes are always either green or mushy, vegetables are "fresh" out of cans. It's usually the most expensive of them all, too. Baffles my mind why people go there.

Publix > Firehouse = Jimmy Johns = Jersey Mikes

All 3 have their own strengths. Firehouse is the best quality but most expensive. Jersey Mikes is lower quality but gives you a lot of sandwhich. Jimmy Johns is a balanced between the two. Publix deli beats them though. Fuck I miss Quiznos.

You're asking for retarded sandwich ingredients, that's your real problem. Sandwiches should have ingredients like ham, turkey, salami, bologna, pepperoni, and cheese. Restaurants in general get chicken meat wrong more often than not, for whatever reason it seems to be something you could fuck up and make all stringy and difficult to chew, in contrast with the ingredients I listed out just now which you can't go wrong with.

When did you measure it? They had a lawsuit about this a while back, so that might not be a problem anymore:
www.eater.com/platform/amp/2015/10/20/9574367/subway-will-measure-bread-footlong-sandwich-lawsuit
It's going to probably depend on hoe good each of the specific locations are at following company standards though.
