Will be visiting in a couple weeks, will mostly be in Buenos Aires. What kind of food are they known for? Any good spots?

Also might check out Montevideo since it's nearby is their food any different?

Empanadas are good in the north. Lamb and other less boring meats are more common in Patagonia, and usually grilled over a fire outside and end up delicious. Rosario has probably the best ice cream in the country, and I haven't tried italian gelatto or I'd probably say in the world. Also a lot of craft beer, which are booming significantly. Mendoza: wine. Villa Gral Belgrano: beer and german food (largest german colony in the world). Mar del Plata: fish and seafood. Also fucking Churros at Manolo's hnngg. For some reason waffles are common in the atlantic coast too, but they're probably worse than in the US.

Also asado everywhere. If you can, make friends with someone and have them invite you to one. It's fun, and way cheaper than eating it at a restaurant (I think we hardly ever do that, everyone grills). There are *some* grills/restaurants in Buenos Aires that are very famous, so they might be worth it, but I wouldn't just walk into a random one.

Also eat a choripán in the street with a bunch of chimichurri or never speak to me again you fag.

Hmm so if people don't really eat at restaurants, how would I go around places to eat? Just hole in the wall places?

Alright Rosario and Mar De Plata sound good, I wouldn't mind stopping by smaller towns along the way. I'll be staying there for 2 weeks. How are people during the week? I imagine everyone would be too busy working causing everything to close early, no?

>> No.11093630

Any kinda of beef with papas fritas, choripan, empanadas the blue chesse with nuts is really good, milanesa napolitana, and Alfajor and dulce de leche to deserts.

We eat at restaurants a lot. I meant for asado in particular. Maybe it's just within my circles, but going to a grill for asado sounds quite stupid. To find nice places Google is your friend, no secrecy is involved, I just don't know any grills myself. (Am I even using "grill" correctly? I mean an "asado joint", not an actual grill of course.)

Unless you're in a tiny town, you should be fine during the week. We tend to have dinner at around 9pm, so even in weekdays restaurants will be open until about 11 I guess? Keep in mind it's winter, so Mar Del Plata will be quite deserted compared to the summer.

No, you're ok. Grill could be used like that. Ah ok that's good to know.

Its true, wine is just rich or pretentious stuff here. The shitests national wines that are no sweet thats is only good to cook costs at least 10 reais, its lot of pesos I think.
