why are more and more people replacing the layer of ricotta cheese in lasagna with a bechamel sauce? Am I the only one who prefers the ricotta cheese over the bechamel sauce

dumbass.
the bechamel is on top, there still should be a layer of ricotta in there

I honestly believe it's a cheaper alternative and people are simply used to it in whatever recipes they list. Ricotta is the superior product. There could have been a time 25+ years ago grandmothers might not have easily found ricotta on the shelf at some groceries, though certainly not true today.

Because it can taste amazing? A spinach+mushroom lasagna can be goddamn great.
Now whether you would actually call that a "lasagna" is another question, but it's good shit regardless.

ricotta is garbage and so is bechamel.

Oaxaoan, coby, parmesan and Romano cheeses make the best mix for a hearty lasagne.

Jesus, just make the sauce by the gallon and freeze it. You can throw a lasagne together in 10 minutes.

A simple meat sauce only takes a few hours and can also be used with other pasta. Its cheap and if you eat in a month or two won't loose its flavor. And if you add a lot of veggies it can be very nutritious.

In culinary circles it's known as Bechamel.
Adding the word sauce is unecessary
