Also welcome are vegetarians and meat-eathers. Haters stay out.

I found this picture of a 1930s vegan camp. Wow, so powerful, who said you can't be healthy and still look stunning? This is right after all of them had a delicious vegan meal with lots of different and fun colors like red, green and yellow consisting of 200grams on sugar, 20grams fibre and a good feeling knowing that only insects, birds and small animals like rabbits were killed in the process of making their food. So basically no animals were harmed. Very powerful.

Bulls enjoy living in captivity and in reality it's extremely rare that they would be abused in any way. Why woudl they? people love animals.
Sadly however, usually when an animals life ends it usually like results in death. Animals are way better off living in captivity, have people take care of them and kill them painlessly at some point. The other alternative would be living in the wild, having a cheeta bite your testicles off and having parasitic worms fill up your airways and having to experience a slow and painful death trough suffocation that might last for years.
Living in nature is torture on many cases. Humans protect the animals they eat so that we can have good quality meat. And meat is one of the most nutrient and energy dense foods there is.

Non-vegan here. Had a vegan taco the other day, very bad and summed up the biggest problem with vegan food: it's all imitative garbage. Fake meat, fake cheese and (confusingly) a fake tortilla made out of god knows what. They were advertising it as gluten free but maybe these "foodies" didn't know there should be no gluten in a corn tortilla anyhow.

I don't understand what the fuck is up with this shit, why can't you throw some beans and veges in a corn tortilla and do it well rather than attempt the impossible. Literally what the fuck is wrong with you people.

If I could go to a vegan restaurant and get things like: Normal vegetable antipasti, normal vegetable mezze, normal vege sushi, normal vegetable pasta, a normal fucking salad that isnt covered in some fake cheese dressing... then I would be happily vegan.

You stupid fucking asshole. It literally says sources of saturated fat may be beneficial for heart health, and that focus should shift from telling people to reduce their saturated fat intake to telling them to reduce their refined carb and sugar intake to reduce heart disease. It has nothing to do with keto dieting. Your shitty ideological pushing is going to make people sick and potentially kill someone at some point.

>Nobody said refined carbs were wonder food
No, but you're still blaming saturated fat from animal products for heart disease when refined carbs and sugar are now the likely culprits for that. If you want to be vegan because you strongly disagree with animal slaughter and environmental issues and whatever, that's fine. I agree that those are issues that need to be dealt with. But a vegan diet is NOT healthier than a balanced omnivore diet and you need to fuck off with your shitty outdated thinking that is most likely being influenced by companies who offer "healthier" vegan alternatives of these foods. ..and if you have a garden you absolutely do want hens. It's brilliant synergy. The chickens eat pest insects in your garden and fertilize it with their poo. that means you don't need to spend as much effort on pest control, Meanwhile you get free eggs, and a little meat once in a while when a hen gets too old to lay. chickens are also handy for various gardening tasks: They're great at spreading mulch or manure, they do a great job eating weed seeds & pests when you are preparing ground for planting, etc.

wood chips aren't fertilizer They're fertilizer locked up in a carbon matrix that takes years, even decades of vermiculture as well as bacterial and fungal action to free for use. Assuming of course, that you don;t simply enslave the worms to create a compost factory to do it in 3 months. Shit, especially bird shit is immediate nutrients for you plants, and if the shit is created by the comsumption of weed seeds and vermin that would have perpetrated a mischief upon your crops, then it's basically free, even if you do have to supplement their diet with a bit of seed.

Most of the nutrition in corn is locked up and is indigestible by humans. Our digestive systems are not powerful enough or long enough to break it down. Why do you think corn in your shit looks about the same as it did on your plate?

To make corn nutritionally digestible you have to soak it in an alkaline solution, then dry it , then grind it and THEN boil it. The end result is called "Grits".

Corn on the cob is fodder for cattle and a way to keep your stomach full during famine periods.

From an environmental perspective it's extremely efficient.
Fertilizer needs: Zero. That comes from compost and manure.
Pesticide needs: Very low to non-existant thanks to chickens used for pest control, and also because small plots are far less likely to sustain a massive outbreak of pests compared to huge monoculture operations.
Energy needs for transportation and refrigeration: Greatly reduced due to closer proximity between farm and consumer.

Confirmed for having ZERO understanding of animal physiology or biology.

Cattle have FOUR fucking stomachs. Their natural dies is GRASS. Their GI tract is specifically geared to digest cellulose and other hard-to-digest vegetable matter.

Also, corn isn;t really good for cows either, it does to them the same thing it does to humans; makes the FAT. That's why American beef is considered superior to most of the world's; we use corn to fatten 'em up so their flesh has that lovely marbling that makes a steak so tender, juicy and delicious.

>INB4 WAGYU beef

They take a very long time to compost but are very effective weed blockers. I agree poultry manure is an excellent source for animal fertilizers but green manures are often overlooked. A cover crop of clover will fix additional nitrogen into the soil and can be tilled under to rapidly decompose which provides an excellent source of nutrients, in fact with the N fixation activity, higher than animal manures. To even increase the benefit, fall leaves can be tilled in with the green clover. There's lots of ways to build living, nutrient rich soils.

I hate vegans as much as the next man, but your figures show that you're the idiot here. The 1.14 million is the estimated number of vegetarians in 2016, the .542 million is the number of vegans in 2016, both extrapolated from a randomised poll of 10,000 people. The 2018 figures are not present in the article, they are implicit from the link to an insurance website's 'survey' of 2,000 self respondents. This makes the latter poll basically worthless, but their figures would show a 700% increase if they were real figures. So the math checks out, just not the methodology.

Anyway, we bickered about semantics and then I asked you to restate your case seriously. You didn't.

Do you want me to address the pic you posted? If so, state your case. Personally, I think it shows that the western diet tends to suck, which I do not disagree with. Too bad it doesn't include a group who ate mostly plants but included some meat, otherwise we'd have some useful information to work from.

Personally I think it's pants on head retarded to exclude an entire class of foods from one's diet simply because overconsumption of them can be unhealthy. That would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

>>Im pro life everywhere
No. You're not. Like everyone else you have a threshold where you prioritize other things above the enviorment. You're on the internet, for example. That has enviornmental costs: damage to lay cables, pollution to launch satellites, toxic runoff to mine the minerals for computer chips, more of the same as well as toxic waste generation for rechargeable batteries....etc. You obviously have something that you value more highly than that. Maybe it's social media. Or maybe pleasure watching videos or gaming. Maybe you have it for your job. Or to talk to friends. But there is some factor (or combination of them) that you value more highly than the enviornmental cost involved.

Do you eat strictly from your own garden? Because mass agriculture kills millions of rodents, insects, rabbits and birds per year just to secure the crops. Pedro doesn't give a fuck about veganism, he exterminates everything that can ruin his crops

>You can’t argue the benefits of meat
Sure you can. It's tasty. It's required for many classic dishes, some of which have social functions. And it's also nutritious: there are many vital nutrients whose most efficient sources are from animal-based foods. Those can be debated just like those of electronics (and electricity, and IC engines, and all sorts of other things that are common in modern society).

Antivenin is non-vegan because it requires the enslavement of animals. to create. Carnists accept that humans must use animals to survive and thus may use antivenin without guilt.

I do have a garden. Im not the one that maintains it. Harm reduction is an important principle and some things are inevitable no matter what. Regardless veganism is inherently one that reduces harm significantly over eating meat

1. Name one health benefit of being vegan.
2. Post proof that veganism is actually achieving its ethical goals. For example a 100% lifetime-viable vegan diet that's proven to deal less harm to environment via production resources it requires and waste it leaves.
3. Post proofs that substitute vegan food production is better for environment than production of the OG food it's supposed to replace.
4. Explain why I should care about stupid animals that were breed specifically to be eaten.

Substituted with a loss in quality perhaps

>>Meats social functions are not remotely comparable to actual vital and actual life quality improving aspects of electronics
That's entirely subjective. But regardless of which you consider more important, you have admitted that there are things you engage in which havea negative enviornmental impact which you feel is somehow justified. Other people do the same, they just have different criteria than you do.

>>If we transitioned to 100% nuclear power, what would we do with all the coal plants? Why bother transitioning to cleaner energy in the first place, given all the coal plants?

The coal plants could be abandoned. The coal plants could be repurposed.
The coal plants could be demolished and the land used for something else.

What would you do with the millions of cattle, millions of pigs, and billions of chickens?

Abandon them? Repurpose them? Demolish them and find uses for their corpses? I don't think any of these options are vegan-friendly. So... would you just set them free? It doesn't take a genius to understand why this is a bad idea. Will you transport them to some large, uninhabited area? Even if there's a land that could sustain them, it would only be for a short time as introducing that many animals in any area is going to wreak havoc on the local ecosystem.

Your analogy is shit. Try again.

So do you consider any word an insult only when it's a vegan replying to you? In that case "edgy faggot" isn't an insult too, it's a standard sentence ending phrase for 4chin.
>none of those people called you a cult or soyboy
And I didn't say they did. I mention my previous experience with stupid people trying to "troll".
>trying to "troll" you
And that's exactly what I said "contributing nothing to the discussion but posting some shit just to get a negative emotional response".

Overall my point is that contrary to the popular myth of vegans being aggressive and annoying it's the other way around with people "trolling" and insulting vegans just for fun. In fact every even remotely "vegan" thread here confirms this statement.
