different roasts have different uses
typically darker roasts are used for flavoring extremely sugary drinks like those on starbucks since the sugar masks the flavor of the coffee, so there's no purpose of using a light roast with notes of anything because you won't be able to taste them

black coffee is not for everyone, but for those who do like it, flavor is important
a cheap aged light roast is very distinguishable from a fresh light roast, especially if it is single source. once you become used to black coffee you become better at identifying the flavor notes

apart from roasting process and freshness, brewing methods also matter, you can have 3 different tastes from 3 different brewing methods all from the same beans

Been drinking coffee everyday for several years but recently I got mild headaches and nausea whenever I drink a cup.
I just bought a manual press espresso machine too. Went to the Doctor and he told me that's a pretty normal reaction and asked me to stop drinking coffee.

Just drink less. I went from 2 to 3 cups a day to only drinking half a cup of coffee in the morning since the caffeine affected me so heavily for some reason. Now I am back to drinking 1 full cup in the morning but I do drink it with an antacid since now my tummy gets upset

That looks good. Caffeine is a stimulant many rely on and I'd drink lots more of it myself if I didn't get so much anxiety from it. At one point I was drinking up to 5 caffeined beverages a day. That's not good for your heart, you see.
