I did the keto meme about 3 months ago. Was a waste of my time and money had I known that I could've just /fast/ that whole time and be at my target weight by now.
>95%+ of food is suddenly poison to you
>feel like absolute shit the first week
>the sheer number of weight plateaus
>the steep weight gain penalty for breaking ketosis and the amount of time it takes to go back into it after breaking it
>the keto strip faggotry
>the higher costs and sheer difficulty in finding keto friendly ingredients

Yeah fuck that shit. Keto works on the basis of losing weight in the same vein as to how anyone would lose weight when they finally stop gorging their face with sugars, carbs and calories. It admittedly works on a short term basis, but afterwards becomes useless unless you're doing maintenance.

No its simply dont eat so many carbs that you drop out of ketosis. The 20g thing is just to get into ketosis quickly. Its harder to get into ketosis than it is to stay in ketosis. Once you're in ketosis then the limit relaxes considerably. Shortly after I got my ketone meter I tried to get out of ketosis as an experiment to see what it really took. Ate 3 donuts and my ketones bottomed out at 1.1mmol/l before coming back up - i.e. I never dropped out of ketosis.

it was genuinely awesome, that was a deep dish style in a 10" pan, so it's a *lot* of pizza for the carbs. The dough is the main trick, i used the stromboli dough recipe
http://www.uplateanyway.com/keto/stromboli/ (if you're from Texas this can also be used to make awesome keto kolache's)
but swapped some of the almond and coconut flour for flax meal, which gave me about 8g net carbs for the entire dough. the sauce is a brand with no added sugar, i used a half cup of sauce which was 8g carbs, the rest of the carbs came from the onion, tomato, and jalapeno pepper. I cooked the dough for about 10 mins first, then added the fillings and finished cooking. I don't think it's absolutely necessary, but it helped ensure the crust didn't get soggy when the tomatoes released their moisture.

remember "keto flu" when you first cut carbs but your body hadn't made it into ketosis yet? there's a comparable "carb flu" during the transition period where your ketones are dropping but your body hasn't started burning glucose again. stay out of ketosis a day or two to let your body re-adapt to running off glucose and your body will start responding to carbs the way it used to. fortunately getting back into ketosis afterwards is *much* easier than the first time because you are already keto adapted, there's a bit of a ughu-ness but its not bad and its only for a day.

My blood sugar went up to 148 and was back down to 115 within 2 hrs. Perfectly reasonable response. I did feel like ass though, but in retrospect that's how I always felt after a large high-carb meal. I was out of ketosis for 2 days afterwards, but getting back into ketosis wasn't a problem, no real keto flu just felt a bit blah the day I went into ketosis.

I had high hopes for it when it was first announced but its been a major disappointment, never bought anything else from them and warn people away when they ask. Not only was it incredibly and indefensibly expensive, it is a really sucky skillet, worse even than lodge which though heavy are at least usable. It won't hold its seasoning at all, it chips off if you so much as look at it harshly. I have some Wagner skillets that I bought new in the 80's back when they were still in business that completely blow this thing out of the water, they are half the weight and have never needed reseasoning in 35 years of heavy use. Keto noob here. Doing it for therapeutic reasons. I feel fucking great with a ton of energy now, but I've lost way too much weight (120lbs now) because I literally don't know what I can really eat.
I'm no great cook. I'm mainly eating meat with some various salads (so I gained muscles but still not enough fat to hide my skeleton)
All the keto books I've read are way too restrictive, the recommended meals are too annoying to prepare/seems expensive

There is a lot of contradictory evidence (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturated_fat_and_cardiovascular_disease#Systematic_reviews)), you've posted 3 studies. Why do you think that siding with what seems to be the majority opinion among health experts is so unreasonable? majority opinions change, but they change slowly even in the face of compelling evidence (see Kuhn, _The Structure of Scientific Revolutions_).

that works for most people, but if you have metabolic syndrome, esp if its progressed to full type 2 diabetes, that may not be enough. keto takes that to the next level, but some people need even stronger intervention, and only long-term fasting will reverse their metabolic dysfunction. everybody's different. if you're just a little pudgy then cutting sugars is fine and keto is a meme, if you're type 2 on hundreds of units of insulin per day, then keto is laughably inadequate.

Nigger what?

Cook eggs and vegetables in butter. Have leafy green salads with lots of olive oil. Get lean meats like chicken and pork; steak on occasion. I'm allergic to fish, but you should probably be eating fish often.

Keto diet is literally just cutting out carbohydrates, so if you're eating all the shit you would eat "normally" it would be less expensive.

Your macros should be 70% calories from fat, 25% from protein, and 5% from carbs.
