yeah that's how energy works, you're probably just mixing up what you intake vs spend. If it doesn't work that way for you go to the nearest science place and tell them you have broken every modern day law of energy and it is contained in your body.

If you're maintaining your current weight with your normal diet, just go on a water fast for a month, you'll lose 20lbs a month and you won't die since you're a fat fuck and have all those stored fat.
Fat soluble vitamins, (the vital ones that you need to live) are stored in your fat and they just get used up as you burn fat anyway.

>> No.10992836

>>10992442
The risk is low but real. It is caused by an electrolyte deficiency, that is worsened when you eat since the liver suddenly needs a shitton of electrolytes to deal with the food, and this drops your blood electrolyte levels into dangerously low territory. It takes a while (weeks) of fasting for this to become an issue. This priblem was discovered in WW2 when we liberated the Japanese POW camps, about 1% of the prisoners had this problem with their first meal. But you really have to neglect your electrolytes for this to happen, so add a little salt to your water every now and then, or during some broth once a week. Or just make your first food a small snack, then eat your real meal an hour or so later once the snack has corrected your electrolytes. It's not rocket science, religious people have been doing month or longer fasts for millenia.

The advantage of fasting is it gets the food-related hormones under control asap. The only people who do calorie restriction are no-willpower plebs who can't stand the thought of missing mommies special tendies and masochists who enjoy hunger pains and are aroused by the thought of a permanent reduction in their metabolic rate of around 700+kcal/day.

Not when it leads you to believe that the earth must be flat else gravity would make things slide off. That's about the level of understanding that you CICOfags have. The endocrine system controls how the CI are partitioned between fat and immediate energy use, and regulates the amount of CO the body prefers as its basic state.
See
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27136388
The "biggest loser" study. The contestants were on a diet that cut their intake by roughly 750 kcal over a normal adult. At the end of the competition, their daily metabolism had dropped by 748 kcal - the only reason they were losing weight was the 4+ hrs of exercise each day and the speed the show's doctor was giving them. 6 years later their average metabolic reduction was still roughly 500kcal per day (this is compared to a normal healthy adult not their pre-show metabolic rate), and their hunger hormone levels were roughly 30% higher than a normal adult. Yes CICO still applies, the laws of thermodynamics still apply, but the endocrine changes that happen if you base your diet on the incredibly simplistic CICO model will seriously fuck you over for years.

Exactly. It's also what you get when you shorten the length of a fast below 24 hrs for long-term sustainability. There is a reason the first meal of the day is called break-fast. In the mildest form of time restricted eating you simply dont eat any late night snacks, which is the simplest sanest thing to do. And for many people this is enough to keep their weight under control. It's not necessarily enough for type 2 diabetics and really obese people, because their endocrine system is just too far out of whack. Longer fasts (days/weeks) will bring that under control so that simply skipping snacks will get them the rest of the way.

What were your fasting insulin level your last checkup? If it was elevated then you have to get it down or it will be tough going, high insulin prevents your body from burning fat. Your metabolism drops because your body does not have enough energy to keep your organs running well with the energy levels available. You need to increase the amount of energy available to your organs while still limiting calorie intake below your burn rate.

Your body can run off either glucose or fat. It will run off glucose if at all possible (this is often used to justify a high carb diet, but your body will run off alcohol over carbs and nobody uses that to justify alcoholism). If your body is in glucose burning mode but there isn't enough quite enough glucose then your metabolism will slow down to match. But if there isn't *nearly* enough glucose, then your body will switch to burning fat and save the glucose for the handful of organs that need it. Since you have lots of fat to burn, this eliminates the energy deficit so your metabolism increases again. And now you're burning fat like crazy, while your liver makes whatever glucose you still need (not much).
You do this with fasting.
https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/81/1/69/4607679
>RMR [resting metabolic rate] and RQ [respiratory quotient] did not change significantly from baseline to day 21

The decrease in insulin is the key btw. It's what opens the taps from your fat reserves. Insulin forces fat into your adipose cells, if insulin is high then most fat that comes out gets shoved right back in before it can be used for fuel. Get insulin low and you can burn all the fat you want, keep it high and you can cut calories all you want but you won't lose weight because that fat is effectively locked away by the insulin. Conversely if insulin is low you simply cannot gain weight and will eventually starve to death. Pic related.
