Different culture, they tend to put different food in the middle of the table, and pick the one you want to go with your rice. It's simpleto tool and precise to pick what you want

they are good for foods that you don't want to puncture and leak liquid from. otherwise I'd rather use silverware.

If you eat out, there are places provide a different set so you don't touch other ppl food

But generally if you aren't a brainlet and know how to use chopstick you won't touch others ppl food, they have spoon for dish that's aren't easy to use with chopstick.

>> No.10979921

>>10979740
OP didn't say or imply that they are "hard to use". And why are you bothered by the question of their benefit? One post has pointed to the benefit of not puncturing the food, and another pointed to the fork's ability to scoop, negating the puncture issue. I'll add to the fork's benefits by saying that they are also good at cutting many foods. Chopsticks can only manage a "cut" via a squeeze of a soft item. So forks can cut, scoop, stab, stir, and surely more. Chopsticks, can carry and stir. How do the chopsticks win here?

I do use chopsticks for popcorn because I top that with a lot of dry ingredients which only partially cling to the olive oil, and both the fork and the spoon cause too much agitation which makes the toppings drop off. Other than that, fork wins the rest.

>> No.10979933

Remove the spoon along with both sets of chopsticks and the stand holding them. Place a fork in that spot and all issues are resolved.

Idk. I'm using chopsticks right now. I like me a good fork. Depending what I'm eating, if there's a lot of different things around, it's more precise to pick up stuff that way. Why is this a recurring thread? People advocate the fork but haven't mastered two sticks?

The speed at which you eat is entirely your choice. If you meant that they force you to eat slower, I might agree. But really, I still don't. When adept at using chopsticks, you can shove as much in your mouth either way.

No "benefit" posted thus far is credible.

Serious question here about that image. Does the customer usually drink the sauces in the little bowls there? The thicker one on the left looks like it could be dipped into and cling to the food well enough, but the one on the right is very watery and looks like you'd have to sip it in a drinking manner.

Pretty sure their point was that while forks and spoons are available, no one uses them for hotdogs. But to their discredit, its a LOT easier to eat a hotdog with your hands than it is to eat rice in such a way.

There's a reason you don't get knives at a Chinese
restaurant. Chopstick etiquette specifically cutting and stabbing. It brings disharmony to the dinner table. You can say what you want about that but all Chinese recipes are made so that isn't a problem, i.e., meat is cut into small pieces already. Of course dishes made for the fork and knife won't be convenient to eat with a chopstick.

>>10980020
It's for dipping the fried thing on the left into, you could also mix it with rice if you had more. Generally you'll run out of most of it by the end of the meal (he's probably going to get more vadas, idlis, or dosas), but if you don't finish adults will just eat the rest with a spoon. It's hard to drink because there are a lot of solid vegetables in there like chopped tomatoes.

That guy definitely has spoons available for serving, soups, yogurt, etc. It's just a lot better to eat most Indian food with your hands.

>You can say what you want about that but, etc.

I actually don't have anything bad to say about that. I like small cut food because its just more pleasant to eat without having to cut it all myself. More relaxing, I suppose. Also, for sauce heavy things, the larger stuff doesn't get as much sauce coverage. Small cut stuff has sauce all around and within every bite.

Im looking for a bento box, it cant be pinku (thats japanese for pink) or any girl color. It has to be of 2 or more kotoba (thats japanese for 2 compartments) and has be be chibi (small) sized. And has to be really kawaii (cute). Also It has to be about 10-20 bux. And you have to post pics of it first (i want to make shure it's kawaii [cute]). And it would be nice if it came with matching chopstick holder (WITH chopsticks). OH! and it CANNOT have any cartoon pictures, or be made out of plastic. It has to be made of ceramic, or something like that. Also it would be nice if it was made in japan. and not in china or corea (korea) or whatever. I have found a bento box similar to the one im describing in e-bay, but it was 1 kotoba, and i dont want my gohan (rice) to touch my other things (it can get wet and i would not like that, plus 2 compartments looks more kawaii)
