10965284 No.10965284 [Reply] [Original]

I made up a cottage pie tonight, along with some glazed carrots. Please excuse the plating, I'm just a humble home cook making dinner for himself.

What're you having for dinner, /ck/? From French cuisine to fast food, all posts are welcome here.

Looks good op, where'd you get the recipe for your side? I'm used to seeing most veggie sides served on their own.

I had a burger and waffle fries, it's been a long week already and it was either this or chili mac...

That sounds good, almost like a goulash. Do you have a recipe and/or pictures?

>>10965398
Absolutely, though if they're fresh ingredients you won't want to add them at the same time as the seasoning. Brown your beef with the onions, then add the garlic and saute over high for a minute or so. Lastly, add your homemade seasoning with some water and then simmer over medium-high for a couple of minutes until it thickens a bit and the beef is broken up.

I adapted my recipe from a Ramsay video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_GNznvIN1E)) but when I was in college I made a "shepherd's pie" from frozen veggies, potatoes o'brien, and cream of mushroom. Good start, it could use a salad or some veggies on the side. Meal prep isn't as bad as you might think, it's easy to get into. Find a recipe that meets your health goals and cook like you're making dinner for 3-4 people. Doesn't take much more time than for one and then you're set for half the week. Too many folks make meal prep out to seem like you have to cook special "meal prep" things but I just cook for a family and eat for myself over a couple of days. Chilis, stews, casseroles (like the pie I made in OP), soups, whatever.

Just some good ol'spaghetti Bolognese that I made the other day.
An otherwise decent recipe that I have for it adds cubed celery root and carrot, didn't really like that tho.

Marinated 4 chicken thighs in mojo, and 4 in jerk chicken sauz for 24 hours. Heating up the oven right now cuz I don't have a grill.
Gonna throw some zucchini in there as well cuz they've been sitting on the countertop for weeks.
And.... I'm not sure of the third option. Maybe some pieroguis. Anyone have a suggestion?

Roast beef, potatoes and artichokes.
No sauce on the beef but it was juicy anyway.

Ugh. Mojo marinade is fucking gross.
I secretly knew it would be, but I did it anyhow.
>Sour orange juice and spices.

I now have sour chicken. Goddamnit.

A burger and sauteed broccoli. Was pretty alright, but I oversalted one of the patties a bit and the sauce I made wasn't the best. Tomorrow it'll be better since the onions I quick-pickled will have had time in the fridge and I'm going to make a more simple mayonnaise sauce and maybe top it with a fried egg. Broccoli was just salt, pepper, and chili paste and was sauteed up in the drippings from the burger for some extra flavor.

Citrus can actually work fairly well as a marinade, but maybe yours just had a cruddy balance. I make my own out of the juice from 2 oranges, some garlic and ginger, soy sauce, a little salt and pepper, and a drizzle of sesame oil.

>Do you have a recipe for your cream sauce?

-preheat oven to 350
-brown pork chops on one side in skillet with 2 tbsp. veg oil
-flip them in skillet, throw in oven for 25 min.
-take chops out, let rest
-drain excess oil, put 1/2 cup chicken broth in skillet on med-high, bring to boil
-loosen up the chunks of chop and stuff by scraping
-mix up 2-4 tbsp. heavy whipping cream, and mustard/horseradish/cayenne pepper to taste
-whisk into the broth for 3-4 minutes until it thickens a bit
-take off heat and whisk in 1 tbsp. of cold butter
-throw on top of chops/rice
