I work at a pretty good restaurant and can make myself almost anything I want every shift, but by the end of the night I'm so burnt out on cooking that I often just end up stopping at Taco Bell on the way home instead of spending an extra 5 minutes making myself something good for free while I'm on the clock.

It's not really a thing. When I say I've seen it a couple of times I literally mean I've only seen it twice in my life. But seriously, if you're happy with your food you can always just tell the server that you want to buy whoever cooked it a drink and then just subtract that from their tip. If your meal was good it was because of the cooks, not the servers.
