Because pretty much all major bottled water companies are literally just a huge bottling factory with an enormous municipal tap water line that fill bottles with city tap water and sell it for $1 across the country.

Bottled water is just tap water with insane markup, and where I live, the tap water is better than a good bit of the bottled water from other city taps anyway.
