Steak is the easiest meat to cook. I'd have a harder time cooking a pork chop or a chicken breast. I'd rather go to the fancy butcher shop, get my own dry aged steak for $56 a pound, and cook it myself. Imagine how much more a restaurant would charge me for that same steak. Fuck that. I can throw a piece of meat in a pan for a few minutes myself. Mash up some potatoes and cook up some green stuff and you've got a luxurious steakhouse meal in no time.

Seriously you're retarded, or you'll end up sous vide, reverse sear bullshit meme in order to get it cooked.

If you're a rich fag with some crazy pro-level kitchen hardware, go right ahead and pop it in your infrared broiler at 1800F, but unless you're sitting on some sick tech, you will simply not get the same quality you'd get at a decent steakhouse.

>> No.10933162

I'm really glad millenials are killing the overpriced steak house desu. That was always my least favorite type of restaurant because the bulk of what you're paying for is the atmosphere.

Bullshit that meat costs you consumer market price; all those places are making deals with meat distributors for wholesale and marking everything including the blanched broccoli up to 600%. Steakhouses are one of those places that trick you into thinking what you're getting is something you cannot prepare readily at home. They doll up all these products on white plates and have it delivered to you by servers in white shirts and black pants who call you sir or ma'am. But the reality is that if you have a functional range, a sturdy pan, and are able to follow directions you can also make a steak just as good as any restaurant. You think blanching asparagus and stirring some garlic into hot butter to go on top is hard? Cutting potatoes really thin and dousing them in bechamel is toddler shit. Fuck you can even age a ribeye at home.

>> No.10933189

>>10933162
Agreed, though what you're describing isn't limited to steakhouses. I'd argue that you could easily do the vast majority of any restaurant food at home.

>> No.10933207

>>10933189
I also agree but I think steak houses are the worst offender because all those foods are really that simple. Going to a high end Italian or Japanese place might offer some more complex fair that the average home chef may struggle with, but a steak house doesn't have that type of technique backing it.
