I grew up in a very (((((diverse))))) area and my chinese and indian friends would bring cold ramen or pasta to lunch and it smelled really bad and they made disgusting sounds while eating it

If you are talking about the actual dish itself and not dish as in meal, people go with warmed plates because it keeps your food warm longer. If you serve a hot meal on a cold plate the heat will transfer and cool down your food, but if the plate has been warmed up it retains heat longer. Duh. If you mean cold meals then you're just a retard with a warped worldview.
