Why are pressure cookers so expensive?

I’m no neurologist but probably they have to be made with high tensile adamantium so as not to explode from the pressure

You're right, anon. You should probably go for the cheapest one you can find; the one where they cut every corner imaginable to save a couple bucks on their bottom line whilst hocking kitchen bombs.

That's a shitty style the valve is always fucking up. This 16 qt presto is extremely simple with the weighted pressure valve and only $70 at walmart. The only thing that would ever need replacing is the rubber gasket once in a great while. You can also can 7 qt jars at a time with it.

>hot steam coming out through the plastic parts

This is the design decision that I frequently see in expensive pressure cookers that I just don't understand.

Most "expensive pans" are designed to look nice in some rich person's kitchen.

Shop at restaurant supply stores instead and you won't see dumb shit like that anymore.

This. Why do you need a pressure cooker OP? Are you making a bomb? Otherwise just buy an instantpot and throw your old crockpot away.

Right, that's what OP's does and it's why they're shit. That $70 Presto with the manual weight gauge won't have any issues since other than the gasket, all components are metal.

Can't you make crude oil in these things? That might be a factor

>> No.10881861

i have an instant pot, it's one of the best kitchen purchases i've ever made. get the 9 in 1, you can't go wrong.

Can I connect this to my iPhone?

>> No.10883675

What are those pressure cookers actually good for? I dont make anything that takes longer to cook than 25 minutes (potatoes) and to me that is not worth fucking about with an extra pot in my kitchen.

This. Most of them retail for less than $100. A nice All-in-one gadget to have.
