Hi /ck/, do you guys have any simple but impressive baking recipes? I'm baking with a girl on Tuesday as a date, but I don't have any good recipes. No dietary restrictions, just anything that's pretty simple and tasty. Thanks!

Yeah! I always have a fun time baking with girls, if it's something simple then it's all measurements and hard to fuck up. The teamwork aspect and then enjoying baked goods together always works well. Thanks for the recipe!

I make a sweet potato cake that everyone seems to enjoy.

Ingredients
>1 & 3/4 cups AP flour
>1 tsp baking soda
>1 tbsp baking powder
>2 eggs
>1/3 cup milk
>pinch of salt
>cinnamon (maybe 1 tsp? to taste idk)
>allspice (same as above)
>1 tsp vanilla extract
>1 small sweet potato, boiled until completely soft and mashed
>Optional: chopped walnuts, or chopped pecans, or chopped dates
>Optional: cream cheese frosting

Directions
>Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and spices
>Add sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla extract and whisk until thoroughly incorporated
>Add mashed sweet potato
>If using any optional ingredients like chopped walnuts, add them now
>Bake in a skillet or cake pan in the oven @ 350F for 1 hour
>Let cool, the add frosting and/or additional chopped nuts if you're using them
