Where do you live? I live in northern Colorado, and we have beer out the ass here so it's pretty great. personally, I feel like once I found a beer I liked, all the others started to click.

I like Blue Moon as far as the most generic and plebby beers go. It's light, wheaty, and easy to drink. If you've tried it (and I'm sure you have) look towards sour beers more than the others. Sours are really unique to me because the sourness masks all the other flavors that usually make me hate beer, and it gives it a really nice and unique profile. Finally, I think nitro brewed stouts aren't all that bad.

Holy shit boy you've got a good selection there. Speedway Stout is hands down my favorite stout. If you live in SoCal hit up Alesmith, they always have crazy variations of it. The Vietnamese coffee Speedway is legit one of the best beers I've ever had.

Yeah, I know I have good taste. I also have twice as many other beers not in the fridge. I live in NorCal and it's actually really difficult to find AleSmith and Port around here - at least that aren't 6 months old. I used to have family in San Diego and hit up both breweries last time I was there, but the family's all gone now, so who knows if I'll ever make it down again. But yeah, Speedway Vietnamese Coffee is probably one of my all time favorites. Port's Mongo is probably one of my to IPA's, but it's maybe once a year that I can find a fresh bottle or run into it on tap.

oh, nice to see Żywiec Porter being recommended, it's good, but most Polish Baltic Porters are better. Personally I like Porter Warmiński from Kormoran brewery and Grand Imperial Porter from Amber brewery. I think Grand might be avaliable overseas, I'm not sure though. For some reason in Poland throughout the 90s and 00s only two styles of beer were being produced: standard pale lager and Baltic porter, and even the large breweries like Żywiec made them pretty damn well. And if you wanna try some craft porters, Widawa brews probably some of the best porters in the world, their 5th Anniversary Baltic Porter was a masterpiece

I think your best bet might be wheat beers, like those German Hefeweizens. They're slightly sweet, but not too sweet, very little hops. If you like whisky you might like smoked beers or some barrel-aged stouts, then there's Scottish ales, Belgian ales, sour ales, bocks, barley wines (although the American variations are heavily hopped), or just a good ol' Guinness-esque dry stout. There's a lot options even if you don't like hops

Żywiec porter is okay fresh, but gets much better if you keep it in the cellar for a year or two - same goes for most non-craft Polish porters. Warmiński is probably the best fresh and the least likely to be harsh or alcoholic, Grand Imperial is cheaper and can be very good, but is a bit unstable.

In Poland these beers are great value for the money, you can have a fine, complex beer for a dollar - especially if you're patient with the aging.

What beer doesn't taste like absolute shit? Fosters, carling, stella, all taste like absolute shit and give me shivers with their disgusting bitter taste, and I don't think I've drank enough of beer to be able to differentiate between lagers, stouts, etc.

Vodka, whiskey, etc. all taste like hairspray but at least you can cover that up with coke or fruit juice even if it makes you look like a queer.

I started trying a bottle of craft beer each time I go shopping to try and find something that's isn't horrendous but I tried a couple of golden ales and they taste exactly like the lagers with the same bitter aftertaste.

I managed to find some alcohol ginger beer and dandelion/burdoch which tastes great but I'd love to find something I can ask for at a pub that doesn't make me want to spew.

I'll try a single bottle of stout when I'm next shopping, I don't think I've ever tried a stout (just the lagers I mentioned) so it might be fine. I just find the lagers have 0 taste other than the bitterness at the end. I've had some american beers in the past like coors, bud, etc. and they tasted exactly the same. Might make me sound like even more of a queer but I remember having a Corona a few years ago back when I was like 15 or 16 and it was probably the one I liked most out of all of them because it had the least bitterness but it still wasn't great and had no taste otherwise, was just slightly less awful than carling, etc.

If you're going for a regular stout, try Samuel Smith's rather than guinness, guinness is very generic and you might not like it. If you can find a sweet one, try it for sure. Also do try a wheat beer, (not leffe or hoegaarden!) Erdinger is my favourite and most Tescos stock them, I think you will be pleasantly surprised, it's so much smoother than lager and no bitterness.

I used to hate beer as well until i realised there was more to beer than just lagers and pale ales made to be nothing more than slightly more bitter lagers. Now i'm into homebrewing because i know how good beer can be.

I would recommend some of the stronger scottish styled ales, scottish export or wee heavy. Belgium tappest beers can be really nice as well. flavoured porters can also be quite a nice accessible beer.

The only mass produced beer i think is nice is guinness. With that said, guinness is pretty different to the majority of stouts you can buy and stouts can range greatly in flavour while lagers are pretty similar.

The thing to take note is that you don't like really clean, dry beers.

Does anyone else love craft lagers?

I like craft in general, but I find that my favorites from many breweries are their flagship amber lagers. Like Saranac Adidondack Lager or Abita Amber. They're good for sessioning while still having flavor

i know it isnt a stout but havent had hobgoblin since i was around 14 and it was offer at the shop so i'll let you know if it's any good

a multitude of flavours the citrus is there but it's not jarring at all it's very well tapered with the what i assume is chocolate. ( It is chocolate just checked ) ,the hops they use in this are called fuggles and that bitterness makes all the difference, the lack of carbonation is great in this, 7.5/10 from me.
