What'd you making? Who are you celebrating with? Post your creations and plans ITT

For me, it's a homemade taco dip that is autistically made to proportions (count the olives). Bringing it to a get-together tomorrow with my girlfriend and some close friends.

Here's a timestamp if you don't believe me

It's vegetarian (have some vegetarian friends), the base is black and Pinto beans, mashed with a jar of Salsa and chili powder, paprika, salt/pepper, liquid smoke, garlic powder, some Sriracha, etc. Put in a 9x13 pan, pickled jalapeño on the next layer. Sharp cheddar, let the cheese melt under the broiler, unsweetened Greek yogurt and the olives/Tomatoes/iceberg lettuce/white onion that you see. It's pretty tasty

One steak, nothing too big (1.3 lb) but on the reasonably thick side. A torch isn't too hard to work with for searing, but I think I'll get better results when I pick up a searzall:
Searzalls are basically handheld salamander broilers.

I could make the same steak faster with a reverse sear, but sous vide (even if it's a meme technique) lets me mix a little slow cooking in where it wouldn't be possible to make the dish even better with less effort.

That searzall looks awesome. My worry with a direct torch approach would be an uneven sear since the flame is so narrow. This searzall looks like it spreads out the heat.

I need a sous vide machine, it'd be fun to try. Enjoy your food anon, happy 4th

>> No.10854359

>>10854330
The narrow flame isn't too bad to work with, it's just slow and takes a lot of movement to avoid overheating one area. Without having used a searzall I think a torch might work better for rendering fat. The more direct flame does a great job at getting a lot of heat deep into a fat cap, which makes the finished steak a lot nicer.

If you do get a sous vide machine, grab a stick model. They'll work with whatever size reservoir you want, I use a big stock pot most of the time but you could get away with cooking a titanic amount of meat in a cooler or even a bathtub if needed.

You're right but I still don't approve.
Flag design clothing is tacky and redneck as fuck.
A good quality, discrete lapel pin is enough for me.

Living by myself now and while I love my mom I hate her new worse half.

I tried to do something on my own. I'm off work today but I will drive up there tonight to serve some stuff to my coworkers who have to work. I also did a cake and potato salad not shown.

I also bought a steak but I'm so scared of ruining it that I need to youtube this shit over and over before I attempt it. The last time I tried a lamb steak for easter and it started cooking the outside way too fast. Had to finish it off in the oven but I wasn't extremely happy with the outcome.

Just made this burger to break in my new grill and my first time grilling.

I used a pepper jack, for the first burger and a sharp cheddar for the second burger in the picture. Now I feel like i'm gonna puke and im full of burgers.

My only complaints, are there I made the burger too thin, and didn't add the cheddar early enough so it only got half melted.
