Matty Matheson was that dude in school who had to make an outburst in class every 5 seconds and loudly rehash inside jokes with his friends and be a bigger star at the pep rally than the actual football or basketball team and basically disrupt whatever the fuck everybody else is trying to do

Action Bronson reminds me of that dude who didn't care about school and wasn't particularly nice and was uncomfortable to be around but he wasn't a bully either. One day he gives a presentation in class and you can tell that he's kind of a slow reader even though you're all in 10th grade and it's weird because you're still a little scared of him. But when the teacher makes a comment, the guy smiles and chuckles good-naturedly and so does everybody else and you're like hey he's a good dude. Everybody in the class silently roots for him to read the rest of his report without messing up and you learn a small lesson about how people are all the same and that you should try harder to connect with those who are different from you

Decided to Google his cooking background for a few minutes.

He worked in kitchens from a young age, attended culinary school, and was a working chef up until (approx.) 16 months before he blew up, as he injured his leg and couldn't work. And it is noted that he is atleast fairly knowledgeable and had a career in high-end dining, and I recall seeing something about him being the chef of the NY Mets for some time, but I don't remember where I saw that

Also, as a chef, if I had the chance to just blaze all day, make a lot of money, and host a foodie show, I would take it. It is a life far better than the life of a working chef.
