I'm mostly only into IPAs so I have no idea what any of this means deau.
Can anyone reccomend me a good pilsner with an abv above 5%?

Ipa's that highlight hop flavor profiles benefit from being drank as fresh as possible. It's a very weird idea as the whole point of an ipa is to be stable for the journey but all of the memest of meme big giant American ipa's are ment to be drank as fresh as possible. A michigan brewer goes so far as to bottle it and deliver to the store on the same day for the once a year production of one of its better ipa's. It realy does degrade quite a bit once a week has gone by but is still stellar. Shelf rats are the cool shit the stoned guy at the liquor store ordered for himself then either forgot about or got fired before he could take it home. Either way you get some dusty wonders if they've been hiding in the right kind of environment.

Dyslexia is a debilitating disease. You should be thankful that you don't have to wake up every morning not knowing if it is going to be your last. Every day I overcome obstacles that you couldn't begin to dream of, just mixing up the wrong things while cooking could be a death sentence for me. I once accidentally sprayed my pan with bug spray that I thought was Pam cooking spray and sent me and my roomate to the ER. We almost didn't make it because I mixed up the numbers for poison control and accidentally called a random business. You don't know what it's like to experience day after day of confusion and frustration. You don't know what it's like having to get other people to proofread your posts before you make them. You don't know anything about me except that I am dyslexic yet here you are judging me and my condition for no good reason. >> No.10825084

yeah basically, you can charge a high price so using weird differenty aluminum bottles or nonstandard can sizes isn't that much of a cost difference since your profits are so high per unit anyway and the target audience are willing to pay that high price, and alcohol production subscribes to mostly the same standards as normal food/drink production so you don't *NEED* to use a special container. Plus, having ~~le bespoke~~ garbage involved makes it more hip and actually justifies the high price more than a normal standard can or bottle would

in Quebec there isn't as much of a craft beer scene in the cities because unibroe is so gud and molson/labatt products arent half bad for just turning up on but every time i leave hte province and have to buy beer that isn't Molson Canadian or Coors Light, it's fucking offensive what niggas try to get away with, im not gonna pay 6$ for a 502ml can of beer

the worst part is most of it isnt bad, but the hipster shit drives up the price so much

The shit these fuckheads are selling is off setting the low value of their shit beer by selling them a trinket that probably cost more than the liquid contained within. like it or not, cans are significantly cheaper (for the time being) than glass and are far easier to ship, fill, and package. they're considerably more durable, so the loss due to breakage is cut down as well. also, since the cans are completely opaque (of which glass bottles are obviously not, barring a few outliers like delirium tremens) so they allow no light in, which is what spoils the beer. the likelihood is that more breweries will switch to cans than stick with bottles.

The best example of water manipulation is adding gypsum to your wort because the increase in sulfates will cause the hop flavours to come out.

People add salts like magnesium sulfate, calcium chloride, etc to the water in order to adjust some of the pH (Depending on grains used), body, taste, yeast health, etc.

There's a lot of things that come into play when mashing beer that can be looked over. But obviously if you want to brew better beer, you need to look over all of that.

North Coast Old Rasputin
Lagunitas Imperial Stout

My mother went from a very rare beer and lemonade. A 'shandy'? I'm sure she called it.
Now at 86 she has started getting into the hard stuff, I think thanks to my younger sister.
Mom has broken her leg needing a plate and bolts6 months ago, and last month she fell again and needed a hip replacement.
I've never seen her in hospital other than when she had my two younger sisters.
Now she is in constant pain, probably drinking more than ever.
Don't get me wrong, I'm an alcoholic, but I've never enabled my mother or ever even considered the thought she would become one. Poor mom.
