Buy better ribs lad. Proper grade A ribs have a lot of meat on them. Braised and bbqd to perfection with a smoky, SLIGHTLY sweet sauce you can eat them with a knife and fork after you slide the meat off with a spoon.

Only cheap shitty "bbq pit" ribs from all you can eat joints and greasy spoons are as you describe.

Not saying you have no right not to have enjoyed ribs up until this point, it sounds like you've had some really average at best ribs. But well cooked ribs is some of the best meat going, I hope you give them another shot!

As I said, if you get proper ribs, the meat slides off the bone with a spoon. Then you enjoy cleanly with a knife and fork. Ribs that require manhandling are of inferior quality and poor cooking, that's why the meat is tougher, sticks to the rib bone and ends up a messy meal, because of all the pawing and gnawing.

Not ribs, but this tonkatsu is unusual because it was cooked on the bone. It was the best tonkatsu I've ever had.
