Plain yogurt can last months past the best by date since it's fermented, acidic, and full of good bacteria to keep it from spoiling. Yogurt that already has fruit or something in it probably won't last that long though.

I just opened a half gallon of 2% milk. It "expired" two weeks ago. Perfectly fine.

This. I used to work for a store which had its own dairy farm, and all the milk was marked to expire a week before the actual recommended expiry date as a guarantee of freshness. And even then, it could go another couple of weeks beyond and still be perfectly fine.
