I worked in a liquor store when it became legal again so I go to try a few of them. Lucid was one, there were 2 versions of Absente(sp?), and maybe like 2 more I can't remember. I thought they were all pretty terrible so I wrote all of it off as a meme. I visited my brother, and he had a friend that opened some hipster bepoke absinthe distillery and I tried his and it was actually pretty tasty. Some of the other absinthes out there now might be pretty good, but I'm pretty sure some of the first ones to market were just capitalizing on the mystique and were pretty shit.

the exception is leopold bros. absinthe verte, which is a decent entry-level absinthe with notes of tarragon and fennel. i'd still recommend a french or swiss absinthe over that tho
