What kind of charcoal do you prefer for grilling?

I recently got fed up with lump charcoal in my weber, so I'm back to using regular Kingsford briquettes. What do all the grillers on /ck/ use?

Too bad I can only find it at Costco and only in the Spring and Summer.

What's wrong with lump? I just buy hardwood lump charcoal at walmart and it works great.

Binchotan is best but christ it's expensive so I rarely use it. I prefer lump. If I'm stuck with briquettes then Kingsford is the best.

Dunno, I feel it gets way too hot for my weber, like uncontrollably hot... always singes the hair off my fingers since the weber grate is quite close to the food. But I think it's great for my Akorn since it was designed around lump charcoal.
