exactly this, the best beer in the world is belgian and germans will admit this.

The thing about german beer is that eventhough some of it is really really good (imo the best one comes from Bavaria) there's not a lot of variety.
In fact this law they have "Reiheitsgebot" dictates that you can only use water, hops and barley to make beer. So if you try an Augustiner Helles, and a Hacker Pschorr (two big brands in munich) you might notice very slight differences and even prefer one over the other, but you wont find something world changing.
That being said this are imo the best german beers:
