that's why this beyondmeat shit has to add in coconut oil for the fats.
vegans have to eat a ton of coconut oil to make up for not having animal fat.
animal fat isn't bad, per se, it's due to the industrial way that animals are raised, which makes their fat not healthy anymore.
only poorfags eat the cheapest chicken, pork and beef, thus getting increased risk of cancer.

Faux meat is entry-level veganism. It's for the transition period after you give up meat. If you're still eating imitation burgers after a year of veganism then your palate hasn't adjusted at all, and you're probably going to relapse eventually. The most important factor in being comfortable and satisfied with a vegan lifestyle is the knowledge of how to cook pleasant, flavourful meals using vegetables, without trying to fool yourself that you're eating meat.

I am pretty hyped for advances in the area, though. Meat is a material, like any other-- there's no reason we should assume that natural meat is the end-all-be-all of meat. We've engineered better materials for all sorts of other uses-- now it's time to engineer cheaper and better tasting meat.

Or you could stop making up whatever sounds good for you to continue vilifying vegans and read what vegans actually have to say about the topic. Most are heavily in favor, even though most long-term vegans don't eat much "fake meat" products anyway. Even if it did require animal-testing, anyone could see it's drastically less animal harm and on the path toward even less (though zero may be impossible).

Generally the only vegans who consume a large portion of these products are transitioning who miss meat. In the end, why do you really care what other people eat, disgusting or not? It's their body. It's weird to overcook pasta into mush and drizzle pizza with ketchup, doesn't mean I care if anyone else does it.

>>10707746
The main sources are lentils, legumes, nuts, and grains. I'd start with Indian vegetarian food. Very little soy.

If it's tofu you don't like specifically, try tempeh. (non-veg) Indonesians eat it pretty much every day, I like it, it's a lot easier to make taste good compared to tofu.

I personally eat a lot of chickpeas, black/kidney beans, red lentils. I also use pasta made from lentils or chickpeas (most supermarkets have it). Overnight oats in the morning are a good source of protein too.

>>10707285
This is the only argument that makes sense against fake meat. if you're comparing beef from the butcher to super-packaged processed fake meat patties, the environmental advantage of vegan food is diminished greatly.
