I'm turning into some kind of weird part-time vegetarian. Meat is expensive and a hassle to cook, so sometimes I just skip buying it. Most of my protein comes from beans, eggs, dairy and PB lately. Anyone else feel the same?

Sounds like you've been brainwashed by carnists, I've been living like that for decades (other than the PB which I assume is short for peanut butter, I don't eat peanut butter all that often as I find it to be an affectation by American expats who need to make a big deal about "homeland foods" that they have to seek out in the international aisle).

Last meat I ate was... I have to think about this. I believe I had a chicken sandwich on Monday.

Yes, carnists. I do think I'm a better person than you. Thanks for asking.

Eh, my diet is mostly vegetables, fruits and some carbs, I only really eat meat as a main dish like once a week or when I have to eat outside. aside from that I eat some cured meats on very small amounts here and there.
I simply don't see why every dish needs to have a meat or be centered around it, sure, meat is an easy way of getting protein and getting rid of it completely is stupid, but you don't need meat 24/7

i feel you, op. I rock the amys sort of organic burritos a couple times a week for your same reasons. I do put two of them on top of three fried eggs though with a bunch of hot sauce and salse.

I'm the same way OP, I barely eat meat and if I do it isn't the centrepiece of the meal. This week I've been eating:

Breakfast
>Champurrado
>Banana
>Coffee

Lunch
>Black bean stew with chochoyotes
>Fried potatoes with garlic aioli

Snack
>2nd cup of champurrado

Dinner
>Refried beans
>Fried Eggs
>Fried Potatoes
>Homemade corn tortillas
>Homemade salsa

non meme reply: I've been doing this for the past year for the exact same reason + I found a really kickass (and cheap) outdoor market near me. It's usually full of smelly people but the produce is all local. I consider myself very lucky. I walk in there with a 10 dollar bill and walk out with almost a week's worth of vegetables. They don't sell meat, and it's kind of weird for me to go to a regular grocery store just to buy some meat. I do eat fish, though.

I eat meat once a week just to make sure I'm getting complete all the minerals like iron and complete proteins (since I'm not a huge fan of eggs). When I was a full vegetarian I got anemic and lost a bunch of muscle mass. I think it's completely appropriate to limit your meat intake, it's killing the environment and your shits will be better. My dad has to have meat every dinner though or it's not a proper meal to him, I think that's how a lot of people feel at least in the US

Yep, basically me. I still love meat though and eat it when it's available.

Lots of people do, the colloquial term is "weekday vegetarian"

Same. I don't rule meat out, and when I eat out I almost always order something meat based. But goddamn it's so much easier and cheaper to eat vegetarian most of the time at home.

Meat is cheap where I live, and it’s really not more difficult to cook (unless you’re comparing it to, like, eating celery sticks right off the plant). So I don’t feel the same, no.

You're weird for thinking that meat is a requirement for every meal, and you're weird for thinking that not having meat for every meal makes you in any way a vegetarian.

Welcome to /ck/ where looking in the direction of a vegetable without making loud gagging sounds makes you a preachy vegan extremist

I think the templar did a similar diet, and lived unusually long for their time. Meat only every other day, and fish on the last.

There's nothing wrong with many or most of your meals being vegetarian. I don't consider myself a vegetarian, but most of my meals are.

Yeah I'm kinda like you except with frozen food instead of veggie dishes.

>> No.10659383

Hm, not really. My grocery store sells minced meat very cheap when the expiration date is very close. Since I only buy food one day in advance at the most, that gives me a pound of meat for about 1.80 €. Together with the rest I'm buying (bag of frozen veggies and potatoes), I usually end up at around 5.00 € or 2.50 € per day which is dirt cheap. I am open for other cheap recipes that aren't complete junk food, though. Do you have any, OP?
