Rhum Barbencourt is one of my favorites. But some of the big name rums that are pretty good are Appleton and Mount GAY. Rum is a severely underrated spirits because people only ever had shit like Bacardi and Captain Morgan and think that's all there is to it.

That's a Barbados rum. Try the older Doorly's products and anything Foursquare Distillery makes. Kaniche is supposed to be nice for the price range but I haven't tried it yet.

My dad used to drink and beat me when bored, I've rarely seen him normal, he's always drunk.
I've never been to parks or theater with him, he never let's me get a driving licence cause he doesn't have one. I'm here, locked up in my room, socially anxious because my father treated my like trash, luckily I've realised this and I'm working to recover.

I don't personally but I'd imagine it's better for the same reason the 8 is. The 16 doesn't have enough decent barrels to be aged in so the quality is hit and miss but the "special" bottlings get handpicked barrels.
That and the peat content on Lagavulin was cut many years ago and a younger whisky has a flavor profile closer to what Lagavulin used to be, because peat naturally disappears with time in the barrel.

What I was getting at was to look at tapering a different way. Instead of trying to sip a bare mininum, just go ahead and set a SLOW schedule for yourself. If you had 15 drinks yesterday then today have 14. You're still going to get smashed....just not quite as much. Then the next day a little less. And a little less again. Try that instead of going from full-on boozer to just a few sips. Make a more gradual reduction.
