When people say NY they mean the city, county, and state of new york, i.e., manhattan.

Williamsburg is a neighborhood in brooklyn and therefore, would be referred to as "brooklyn, NY" as in "hempstead, NY" or "buffaly, NY"

NYC food culture is ALL food culture. Immigrants from everywhere and so much competition that it's sink or swim. It's so baffling to me how people constantly try to sum up nyc food culture in one thing or another. I can find shit from anywhere at anytime at any quality.

Brooklyn is the heart of NY culture these days since people decided they don't like people in the financial industry

>I go to williamsburg to avoid all those people who work in finance
I suppose you think all those people living in $2.5M apartments are actors and writers?

north brooklyn has ruined the entirety of NYC.

however, there's a thriving food culture in NYC outside of williamsburg or bushwick — hell, even south brooklyn has some good places in bay ridge, south slope, prospect heights, etc.

>NYC food culture

No such thing bucko. NYC food is reflective of NYC people. Mutts make mutt food. Everything is slightly shit. From the Bagels, to the hot dogs, to the chinese food, to the greek, the italian. It's all worse than their respective authentic origins, all for many times the price markup.

NYC is hell, it's why the Jews are there.

People outside of NYC don't give a shit about this distinction. In fact to us, as far as we're concerned most of New Jersey is part of New York.

Close but not quite.

International student. I wuz Kangz then went to school in Boston for 4 years. Been working in NYC for 2 now. It is shit. I've lived it. Boston was shit too generally, but at least it had *a* food culture. You had the seafood, the lobstah, chowdah, northeast cider, all that stuff. NYC doesn't. NYC has mediocre everything. It's mutt food. No purity or direction to it.

Do you actually live in NYC or did you just visit?
