Just picked these up from the store, what am I in for? I've never had a deen before.

I smother mine with hot sauce and eat it from the tin. I'll also throw some on rye with some pickled red onion and a smidge of mustard. It's sort of salty, fishy, and oily. Vinegary substances compliment it well

Are there genuinely adults whose parents never made them try shit like sardines as a child? Am I the only one this happened to? How do you reach maturity without eating canned fish at least once? I don't understand. Before I came to /ck/ I just assumed everyone had tried sardines before, this is so bizzare for me.

Can confirm rye and pickled red onion is a good combo. Just vinegar and a tad of sugar will be enough. A nice boiled egg on the side. Good quick lunch. Any bread will do tho

I recommend cooking them in a pan for a bit and then dousing with lemon juice.

Softens that fishiness considerable if its your first time

I'm in Argentina for a couple weeks and thought I'd try the local /deenz/scene, pic related. Any Argie fags ever have this kind? Some cans actually said in water AND oil. No king Oscar to be found, and of the 6 or so varieties, there were no other flavors like tomato, mustard, jalapeno or whatever.

Also, none have the pop top lid, so I'm lucky I brought my Swiss army knife.

from a can, incredibly different. anchovy are very pungent, salty, oily. sardines taste more like regular fish, and only oily if you get them packed that way. most types just come in mustard or hot sauce so you'll have a lot of that flavor, then the aftertaste of fishy fish, like a less salty potent clam

A lot of people don't like 'strong' tastes. Hence why Tuna's the most popular canned fish since it tastes so bland/can be covered up with mayo.

Just tried the top two, I liked the one on top a lot. After trying a bunch of different kinds of deenz I've decided I like the Brunswick brand stuff the best. Cheaper than the King Oscar flavored (Mediterranean style, Cracked Pepper, etc.) deenz too, so that's a plus I guess.

I live in a remote area so I only have Walmart and dollar stores like Freds, Dollar General, etc. so my brand choices are somewhat limited.
