I've been to time period themed festivals and often wondered what the hardcore participators are like IRL/why they put so much time and effort into this kind of stuff. It's cool that watching his channel answers both of those. Admittedly wouldn't bother making any of his recipes I've seen so far though.

That's a really cynical way to look at it. Going by his videos he tries really hard to stay apolitical, which is part of what makes it so good.
