The best pan you can buy.

>> No.10536082

I think I fucked up the seasoning on my pan and I haven't used it in like half a year. I really don't want to go through the trouble of stripping it and reseasoning it, but I miss it so much.

Lmao, hope you fags like seared meat for every meal of the day
Meanwhile I'll be cooking something decent in a pan that wasn't invented in the 1700's

I only use the pan for searing meat. It's good at what it does but it's obviously not a unitasker.

memes. no one knows what that means, or what it entails, or the proper steps to go through to do it.

you should wash every pan before using it again unless you want to get sick. end of story.

I don't know about all this, but cast-iron is clearly a meme.

The fact that you've got guys also memeing against non-stick pans is telling.

Use a carbon steel pan. Best of both worlds (cast-iron + stainless steel).

How do you figure that? Carbon steel is exactly the same as cast iron, only it's usually thinner, which is a disadvantage. It seasons the same as cast iron. Its thermal properties are the same too.

>break all my bones trying to lift it
>grind my fingers down to pulp sanding away the rust
>season with gallons upon gallons of expensive oil
>wait for 8 hours for the pan to heat up
>burn the shit out of my hand when I touch the handle
>eggs stick to pan anyway
>shatter teeth on huge chunks of iron distributed throughout my meal
>"wash" pan without soap
>pan still dirty and it gets rusty immediately

1) you didn't clean the pan properly. Scouring doesn't do shit. Use either oven cleaner (i.e. lye), or stick it in the oven on the self-clean cycle.

2) Why are you cooking pasta in an iron pan? Wrong tool for the job.

Oiling after washing is only "crucial" if your pan is improperly seasoned in the first place.

A good layer of seasoning will not be removed by washing, and who the hell wants a rancid layer of oil on their pan?

Oiling your pan after every use isn't "important". It's a bandaid for inept cooks who can't get the seasoning right the first time.

Of course SS is the all-around go-to pan. But a cast iron pan is an almost necessity in the kitchen if you dont hate yourself.

I litterally never have to use oil when frying eggs in cast iron, the eggs just slide out when they are ready same with pancakes.
