I think a lot of people just don't feel like firing up a pot of oil at home because deep-frying regularly leaves a layer of grease everywhere in the home, even on the ceiling. Anyone that cooks knows that shit goes everywhere. I've got a granny in-law that invested in an electric pot just so she can fry outside.

Honestly it is because KFC is the bottom tier fast food chicken shop. It's the lowest common denominator in fried chicken, and people that claim KFC as their favorite fried chicken are basic bitches.

KFC is shit, I can't think of a worse fast food fried chicken. The batter is greasy and bland, the fries are floppy and soggy and the side salads are ridiculously overpriced considering I can get a potluck sized one at a grocery store for six bucks. The only saving grace is the gravy and the sandwiches are okay.

I've had a lot of fried chicken, from fast food to very high end restaurants, and KFC is definitely on the low end of the spectrum. I'd rather go to Popeye's if I want to go through a drive-thru and pick up some chicken.

The local KFC shut down 3 weeks after a Popeye's opened up down the street, so I haven't had KFC in years. I mostly remember that their breasts were always preternaturally juicy but not very flavorful and their various meme entrees were always bad.

First of all, the chicken isn't that good. They give you such small pieces of chicken, it's ridiculous. Not to mention the abhorrent sides - the mashed potatoes and gravy are good, it's impossible to fuck that up, but the wedges are bland and soggy, the green beans are nasty, the biscuits have as much flavor as the napkins, etc.
It's overpriced to shit. You can get the same amount of chicken/more at other places for less than it costs at KFC.
The restaurants are always dirty. Always. I have never been to a clean KFC in years. There's always a wet floor sign, the drink station is always a mess, there's shit all the tables, etc.
And the staff is always god fucking awful. They always have an attitude, they always act like you're the reason they have to work at KFC.
It's a miserable god damn place, it's expensive, the food is awful, the people suck, everything about KFC is terrible. Everywhere is better than KFC. Popeye's, Church's, your shitty local place, your school cafeteria, the rotisserie chicken that's been in the gas station for a week, the frozen fucking tendies that've been in the bottom of your freezer since '97.

Eating at a street food stands surrounded by rats and stray dogs in mexico city after sun down was actually a more enjoyable experience.
I had KFC only once and I couldn't eat more than 1 piece. I felt bad for the rest of the day. It's really the worst food experience I ever had.

Kfc has always been my favorite fast food growing up, but it turns out the one that my mom took me to was actually a famous one. so of course the qualitys gonna be a little up there, if not secured.

I can confirm this, the KFC restaurants in other countries are way better than the US counterpart.

I have tried KFC in UK and in Hong Kong, China, Dubai, Germany.

Best was China, chicken well seasoned, and they have egg tarts on the menu and nice crispy skin or deep fried (optional).

Most KFCs that I have seen are also Taco bells.

I like KFC, but it's either super greasy or dry.

However, I like my local chicken shop just as much. It's always a big greasy but never dry, it's a really tasty coating and costs about 20% less.

As always when it comes to fast food places, it depends on the individual store; the quality of the staff on shift; and various other things, as to whether the food will be good or not. I’ve been to great Popeyes and great KFC. Popeyes chicken tastes better, but KFC has more sides, and just more variety in general; ex: the $10 share boxes for popcorn chicken or tendies.
