They do things right in ways that don't matter to most people, probably. ie, decent wage for fast food, decently vetted ingredients, frying in peanut instead of vegetable oil etc. These things cost money. Not as much money as the price difference to its competition, but that's just how food service pricing works. Every penny must make five more; especially where national chains are concerned.

If they used better buns and/or sold unwrapped sandwiches when dining in, it'd be better than a lot of non-national chains and local burger joints.

shake shack is probably double the price of five guys on a pound-for-pound level, for a marginal increase in quality of meat (the crinkle fries are trash, this is not up for debate, literally grocery store frozen fries)

They have the gall to charge almost half the price of the burger for fries and since all toppings are technically "free", I'm pretty sure they factor in the costs of potential toppings into the burgers price.
For some reason, they also don't have meal prices and also charge a similar amount as the fries for sugar water. They're price gouging because people will pay more to eat something they perceive as niche and unique. While I will admit the burger itself is loads better than chains with better quality patties, but to me it's very close to a homemade burger you would make at a grill cookout.

Retards think it's a step above "the big" fast food. It's poorly made inconsistent food. I'd happily take off $4 from any item on the menu and pay for it. My shitty BLT cost over $5, never again. $2 worth of bread, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. then they charge $3 more because they put it on a dirty grill to toast the outside.

Not that OP but checkers is so incredibly spotty with their performance that you never know what you're gonna get.

Sometimes everything is great. Fresh veggies, hot burger, sauce in right proportions, fries hot etc.

Other times the employees are high off their ass and hand you a sloppy burger with mayo all over the place, wilted lettuce and grainy tomatoes.

>> No.10509573

They recently opened one in the Netherlands so there was a bit of hype about it.

I found it to be a step above mcdonalds at double the price. The milkshake was good, the fries were unremarkable (it's easy to get good fries here), and the burger was ok but not what I'd consider premium.

I didn't like that they used two thin patties instead of one that was decently sized. With McDs I understand that it's a timesaving thing, but at five guys they don't serve you particularly fast.

5 guys sucks for the price. Half a buck more and I can get a half pound burger and a huge plate of fries/onion rings at a small Central Cali chain.

Better than other fast food, but not worth it. Also their fries suck ass.
