I'm not a recently dumped girl so I don't eat ice cream in its own by the bucket load while watching Hugh Grant movies.
But when I do eat ice cream it's with something else like apple pie or pancakes or even just fresh fruit, so plain vanilla is my favourite flavour.

In a way ice cream is kinda like a sweet version of mashed potato. Nobody really eats a big bowl of plain mashed potato unless they're in a particularly lazy mood. But it's not generally considered to be a dish on its own. It has to compliment something else. Like bangers and mash, there's pancakes and ice cream.
Like mash and gravy there's ice cream and chocolate topping.
But the mash and the ice cream should be plain and uncomplicated.

So far caramel and pistachio are pretty high in the rankings. Coconut was nice too, but on smaller dosages. Chocolate can be mixed in to alternate flavours.
