while we've got an asian food/drink thread going, can you guys help me look for something?
i remember as a kid my mom's friend always got this box of japanese energy drinks every month. i remember trying one and falling in love with the taste.
the drinks were all different, and they were all god-tier, but this one i remember specifically.
it was made in like 2007-8, and it was red and gold with black designs on it. it tasted like a really natural berry tea-type thing, and gave me energy like the equivalent of two red bulls.
anyone know about this?

If you're already stocked up on things like gochujang, good ramen, frozen dumplings, mirin, rice wine, oyster sauce, soy sauce, chili oil, sesame oil, rice and other staples, just treat it like you would any other supermarket and get whats on sale.

dunno anon. i'm the guy a few replies up that posted the receipt. the market i go to is a fairly large national chain, so it seems like risking an enormous lawsuit from mislabeling their products seems like a godawful idea. that roe i got was labeled as from iceland fwiw. i don't recall the chicken (and i tossed the package after cooking one breast and freezing the other for later. not rummaging around in the trash to satisfy curiosity).

this is the same company that someone caught them bringing meat in raw on a shopping cart at one of the california stores, so they've already got one pr disaster recently and probably would not want another so soon.

If it is your first time shopping there, then I'd say it is wise to skip it. You need to get a feel for how the place is run.
I personally buy meat, fish and prepared foods from 2 of the 3 Asian markets I shop at, and haven't had any issues. One is a US Japanese chain supermarket, the other is a local Korean market that also runs a catering business. The other place I shop at is a Chinese market, and their seafood and meat section just doesn't sit right with me, so I skip it. Honestly it's probably fine, but I have tons of other places to buy meat and seafood, so I just trust my instincts.
