Why the fuck can't America fall in love with vegemite? I'm tired of paying 18 fucking dollars for something that should be ubiquitous as butter or milk.

Absolutely false, vegemite has a superior texture and is more savory and less salty. Marmite also has a distinct metallic bitterness whereas vegemite is slightly sweet.

>ubiquitous

that ubiquity comes from a wide range of things calling for or using butter and milk. I don't know if I'd say vegemite fits the bill for a ubiquitous food item. actually it's pretty motherfucking specialized and obscure when you think about it. the exact opposite of ubiquity

Marmite just tastes like something you shouldn't be putting into your body. Vegemite is a pleasure.

>> No.10475046

I bought a jar of Marmite a few weeks ago just to see what it's like.
It's ok but Vegemite has better texture, flavour and aftertaste.

Salt. With just the tiniest hint of grass or mulch. Supposedly it hits the umami spot.

You aren't missing much. I got some from Australia and it tasted like the way that an earwig smells. Like that really weird musty, earthy, pungent insect smell. Plus a fuck load of salt.

I'm not the guy you're replying to, but in most areas (i.e. not out in the sticks somewhere) it's easily found.

I live in a mid size town in Texas. Two different supermarkets stock it here. One gets $6.99 and the other $7.99. Four markets stock Marmite, and that costs $5.75-$5.98

I would assume it's easier to find in a big city and perhaps harder to find in the middle of nowhere, but its hardly imossible to get.
