Sup /ck/

I'm working at the McDonalds Worldwide Convention for the next two days and am going to give back to this Bavarian thimble whittling forum. I've been loading in the lighting for the show the past two weeks and finally have some pics to show for my efforts. I'll be there 5:30 to 10:30 AM tomorrow if anyone wants pictures of anything specific; I'll post what I have from today and answer any questions I can.

I've also worked the Denny's International Franchisee show last year if anyone wants to ask about that too.

>Pic related is about 1/3 down the "Prominade" in the center of the show floor about 20' up in a scissor lift.

The coolest feature about working this show are the working restaurants they build on the show floor; this pic is the front of the 4 full size kitchens they built. There are also two McCafes on the floor and one show kitchen they give tours through. They serve a rotating fixed menu of international offerings in the restaurants, and a selection of US/ Canada offerings at one McCafe and Latin American offerings at the other. There are also Centerplate food service buffets around the floor with a rotating menu. The bacon this morning was good.

>>10467547
I tried at the Melitta booth this morning and all I got was a cup of coffee grounds.

>>10467581
They definitely have enough sheckles to do so, although I doubt anyone but the most bored jr exec would bother to shill on this Transylvanian pipe fitting board.

Behold the giant golden Big Mac. They've got an entertaining amount of odd exhibits like this along the central promenade.

>>10467656
Yes, they have a huge amount of vendors from Play Place designer/ suppliers to food service equipment (ovens/ warmers/ friers, etc.) to uniform and shoe providers all showing off the latest and greatest trying to get franchisees to buy their stuff. There is also a fairly massive part of the floor dedicated to internal McDonalds messaging, sustainability, customer experience, and the like.

Pic related is a set of golden arches with every happy meal toy from 2000 onward glued to it.

Some less /ck/ facts until someone asks a question of substance; we installed 1,100 conventional fixtures, about 150 moving lights, and 80 Air Stars for ambience. There are 2 theaters on the show floor, one for McDonalds themed "TED Talks" and one that puts on a painfully repetitive "industrial" show for the benefit of attendees every 15 minutes or so. Luckily i'm not on the run crew for either. There are also various entertainers and costume characters that wander around, including some Disney costume characters and the Coke polar bear.

The food is actually excellent, its prepared fresh right on the show floor and is the best McDs food you'll likely ever have, if you go in for that sort of thing. I don't normally eat fast food, let alone McDs, but I have to admit it's definitely a cut above your average fast food. I had a Dulce De Leche Cheesecake today from the Latin America McCafe and it was actually pretty incredible for something that came out of a McDonalds. I don't know if the menu items in the restaurant are new or just regional/ country specific offerings, but they have things that you don't see in the US. I'll get a picture of the daily menu and post it here if the thread is still up by 11:30AM East Coast time.

Read the thread broham, Ive answered that already. Although I didn't mention that yesterday Centerplate had a taco bar, Indian offering, and a couple other themes buffets around the floor. I think the last day might be, but its primarily for employees, franchise owners, and vendors. its not actually being advertised on the electronic signage outside the convention center.

>>10468083
Not that I've seen, but that isn't to say its not happening later. I'm only there until 10:30AM and the show floor is open until 5 or so, and some of the larger vendors usually pay for a bar or two to be placed in their booth for an after hours Get Boozed Up and Buy Our Shit-athon one evening. Biggest drinkers/ partiers I've seen in my time doing corporate A/V? Teachers. Damn if they don't know how to live it up.

>Run out usable pics from this year; this Pic is from the last time it was in town in 2016, the whole inside of the cube was projection mapped, and I lit the outside of it. It was a bit of a pain in the ass, I had to re-sync the light show every 45 minutes because they didn't embed timecode in their damn video for my lighting console to listen to.

So for breakfast today they were offering regular US Egg McMuffins, regular US hash browns (which were top quality as far as McDs hash browns go; perfectly crispy and hot right out of the fryer) and a chicken McMuffin from Singapore. Pretty goos as far as fast food breakfast is concerned, but not something I'd eat every day. It had some kind of sweet mayo sauce (could just be McDs mayo; idk) that lent some complexity to the sandwich, the muffin and chicken were somewhat dry otherwise.

I also visited the Latin America McCafe again before my shift was over and got a Mocha Cappuccino and an Alfajor Maicena. The Mocha was somewhat disappointing, there wasn't much chocolate flavor in the drink, just a pool of hot fudge at the bottom of the cup when I was finished. The pastry though was really quite good! It appears to be a textbook example of an Alfajor Maicena, a very light shortbread like cookie and dulce de leche filling, like an Argentinean macaroon. not quite as rich as the dulce de leche cheesecake i had yesterday, but very satisfying.
