Is frozen fruit as healthy as regular fruit?

>> No.10464103

No it is covered in hep C infected blood from third world factory workers.

>> No.10464105

I'm gonna say freezing doesn't affect the nutritional aspects for better or worse. The taste and texture might suffer some.

So that's what all the fucking white fruit on instagram is. I thought it was the blackberry version of white strawberries or something.

>> No.10464117

>>10464091
Fun fact: freezing vegetables and fruits doesn't impact the nutritional value, it only affects how long they last before rotting.

I always buy the fresh berries at the store and freeze them as soon as I get home because they last weeks to months that way.

Why not just buy already frozen fruits, you insufferable faggot?

Why? I just eat them within 2 days.

Because the already frozen fruits are small as h*ck compared to the fresh ones.

Lets me be more flexible in how I eat because I mix the berries in oatmeal and such, and I'm not having oatmeal every day.

This is the best pic I could find. Left is what typical frozen berries look like at the store, and right is what fresh berries look like.

>> No.10464183

>>10464163
You're not wrong. The big nice looking berries are the ones selected for the clamshell packages and/or sold fresh at the grocer. The smaller berries are destined for the freezer or for sale to processors to be turned in to jam or pie filling or whatever. There can be a difference in taste, but not always.

So frozen berries are wild and a lot better than fresh ones which are cultivated. Good to know

>> No.10464198

Nah, just grown to different standards for different markets. They are both farmed berries.

Those look like low bush (on the left) next to high bush blue berries. Low push are harder to grow and very seasonal. Here in maine theyre all along powerlines and on the sides of dirt roads.

Do you seriously think all frozen berries are wild harvested? For fuck sake use your brain, most frozen berries are like 1/2 to 1/4 the price of fresh. That sort of cost saving only comes from economies of scale, which means farming.

They only grow in shitty sandy slightly acid soil. I prefer them. The have a much stronger blueberry flavor but they dont stay ripe for long so if you pick them off a couple days either way of peak ripeness they can be tard. I think the big ones taste watery in comparison.

Naturally Imperfect produce costs up to 30 per cent less than traditional produce options found in store. similar campaigns launched in other countries since the European Union declared 2014 the year against food waste?

That seems to be a common theme between factory farmed fruits and vegetables and their wild or small crop variants.

Depending on where you live, it might actually be better for you. I live in an example where it's hard to get fresh berries (fruit isn't as bad). When we do get them, the quality is terribly inconsistent, they could be good or awful or anywhere in between. A good quality frozen berry that's individually flash frozen it's usually at its peak and will stay that way until you use them at home.

If you're somewhere where it isn't such a problem, fresh may be better. YMMV, gotta do some comparing.

This is similar to strawberries in Colorado. They grow wild in the mountain passes but they're really small. They taste so much more intense though. They outstrawberry the monsters at the grocery store.

Man, my acidic red clay soil spits out tomatos so strongly flavored it's almost too much. I've ruined a BLT with too much garden tomato. Too earthy.
But it also makes insanely addictive and sweet grape and cherry tomatos. Most never made it to the house.

The fiber in fruit makes it healthy and significantly reduces the "deadliness" of sugar.

Costco frozen berries from fruit smoothies. Only frozen berries and frozen bananas and water. all other ingredients are for soyboys (except greens)

This. But that's also the reason frozen fruit are better than store bought, because they are usually frozen fresh from the field instead of sitting in warehouses, transporters and on shelfs.

It's a good method to handle really fresh fruit rom your local farmers market or the ones you picked yourself.

the small ones are how they grow here in the forrest, they have way stronger taste and you cant collect them without getting blue everywhere.
the big ones i had are more watery and often have white flesh.
frozen ones may taste ok but the texture is bad when you want to eat them alone, for smoothies or cakes its ok.

i had a flash back to a few years ago when i went picking blue berrys.
There was a small hole on the side of one i picked, i gave it a little squeeze and some kind of larva popped out i know it wasn't a maggot but it looked like one. i just dumped my entire dish of berries and drove off.

Those are not related to strawberries. The name is misleading. But yea, they are delicious. Wild berries hit some deep satisfaction circuit in the brain. They were like finding gold in neolithic times.
