Alright, I fell for the loose leaf tea meme. I don't really have any strainers or usable teapots, so do I just pour the water over the tea and then use a sieve or something to transfer the tea over to another cup?
This is for Darjeeling btw

You can just use a little less of it and leave it, it will settle on the bottom pretty quickly, I only strain it for guests but most of the time even they don't give a shit.

Just go to the store and buy a tea infuser they're dirt cheap

buy an infuser. or if you want to get into it like the chinks do buy a gaiwan and look up how to use it. probably just stick to strainer

>> No.10451308

You can buy some good teapots for only like 20 bucks on amazon. I'd also suggest getting a french press, they make making tea extremely easy and clean up easy to.

ALSO all teas have different temps to make them at. Don't just pour boiling water on everything.

yeah well you do for the shitty black tea op probably got though.
just use a sieve, it doesnt matter at all

>> No.10452745

You could always get an over the cup infuser, they're cheap, easy to use, and work well.

More than likely true that OP bought some bottom of the barrel trash.

Hopefully he goes full force though and actually gets some good stuff. Tea is really really damn good when you make it right with the right stuff, and not some twinnings 25c tea bag bullshit.

Just leave the tea leaves loose, and treat it a bit like Turkish coffee. As long as you're not chugging it, the vast majority of the leaves will be left at the bottom of your cup. And besides, tea leaves are good for you. The Chinese call them "peasant's lozenge" or something, whereby you can chew/swallow some of the leaves to help with a cold or sore throat.

Loose tea isn't a meme, its the way millions of people drink their tea everyday. Teabags were originally meant for situations when you are travelling and don't have a strainer at hand.

These cast iron teapots are the bomb. Some have built in strainers
