Do you finish the broth, /ck/? I usually go after the solid stuff first then take a couple slurps of broth and I'm done. Don't want all that sodium.

Those aren't "all the spices". It's a topping added for textural contrast and garnish. If it weremixed into the soup it would be soggy and therefore provide no textural contrast and wouldn't be effective as a garnish. The soup itself would be seasoned.
