I got one w/ olive oil and one in a tomato sauce.
I love tinned mackerel fillets in tomato sauce. I break them up with a fork before piling it up on slightly toasted bread. Then grill it. Pretty basic but that's the way I like 'em. Sardines taste great too.

Here sardines are poorfag tier food. Most people buy them for cats, some buy a can now and then out of nostalgia, to recall the idyllic childhood in the dirty streets when parents couldn't afford anything better.

They aren't total trash, but they are definitely on the low side of the food quality scale. If you are penniless hobo, they are kinda treat. If you are on food stamps, they are staple. Deenz have been the absolute best thing I have eaten in ages. Comfy and delicious.

deenz are good, but it takes a lot of getting used to. Kippers, trout, even squid and octopus taste mild compared to deenz. I eat a lot of canned and smoked seafood, I really have to be in the mood (drinking whiskey alone) to eat sardines still.
