I heard that the salmonella is found on the outside of the shell, so if you rinse your eggs off you greatly reduce the risk of getting it.

I mean if we think about this logically how can salmonella even be inside of an egg considering that the contents of the egg come from the uterus of a chicken? Wouldn't that imply that a chicken's reproductive system is infested with the bacteria?

shhh we don't talk about stuff like that just accept it and move on goy

iirc if you put water on the egg it activates osmosis or something and then the salmonella goes inside the egg.

That's just them covering their asses legally. In the very rare case someone does get salmonella, or some other illness, they can use the warning as defense when they get sued.

I eat raw cookie dough every damn time I make cookies (from scratch not the premade ones like this), and I've never gotten sick. I'd eat the premade dough as well, but why buy that when it is piss easy and fast to make fresh cookies.

A chicken is a bird, which means it has a cloaca. A cloaca is a common tract for shit, urea, and reproduction. So, yes, the egg would have to travel down the same canal the chicken's shit would. Totally reasonable.

Yes but that's the eggshell going down that, not the yoke.

Which explains why you might find pathogens on the outside of your egg, but not at all why they would be found inside of the eggs.

Logically the contamination would occur because the shell was dirty and when the egg was cracked a portion of the shell was forced in to the yolk/white and contaminated it.

It's called avoiding a lawsuit.
Every single message and warning on packages is there because of the precedent set by a past lawsuit or federal regulations.
Without case law or government meddling, packages wouldn't even include nutrition facts or mildly truthful ingredients lists, much less warn you about not eating salmonella.

Yes. Salmonella infects the ovaries, so eggs can be contaminated before the shell is formed

I actually did get sick from raw cookie dough once, but it was from leftover dough that had been in the fridge, probably for longer than I thought. Never been sick from fresh cookie dough though

Yeah
I actually don't like chocolate chip cookie dough if it's been refrigerated; the chips are too hard
