Am I an alcoholic?

I"m 28, only work 3 days a week (make 52k/year in IT), and I have a bit of a comfy inheritance from my parents which takes away a lot of financial stress.

I was never a big drinking, but when I did drink I would get FUCKED up. Probably something I learned to do in college.

Recently though, I've stopped going to bars/clubs with people, because it's the same shit over and over again and I've gotten so bored of it all.

However, what I've found that I really enjoy is drinking by myself. I'll usually do this 2 times a week.

Over about 6-7 hours, I drink about 750 ml of good vodka, mixed with healthy mixers. I also drink plenty of coconut water to stay hydrated in an attempt to control the hang over the next morning. I've found smoking weed and eating a pot brownie before I pass out REALLY helps the hang over, which I suspect has to do with THC/CBD's anti-inflammatory properties.

When I'm drinking by myself, I have the best time. I listen to music, dance by myself in the dark, watch good movies (where I'll cry or laugh so hard, I just feel much more emotional watching movies when I'm drunk), or I'll read a book (before I get too drunk to read), and roll around and behave like a child/free spirit while smoking cigarettes inside. I don't smoke normally, but when I drink I love it.

Is this horrible for my health? I don't feel that bad the next day even though I get super hammered (like rolling on the floor drunk).

I eat a pretty healthy diet normally, low carb, organic fruits/veggies, high quality proteins and fish, and I take a lot of supplements like tumeric, cayenne, CBD, etc.

Anyone have experience with this? I've been doing this for a couple of weeks now and it sort of feels... ok.

I don't drink everyday or even every other day because I don't get that "energetic rush" if I drink multiple days in a row, so it feels pointless to me.

TL;DR I love getting super drunk by myself and dancing with headphones on until dawn. Is this unhealthy?

could you stop tomorrow if you wanted to?

If the answer is no you are an alcoholic

>> No.10376700

You are heading down the path of drug addiction and alchohism. You're at the bit where "everything is better when I'm drunk/high." That continues for a while until it becomes "nothing is good unless I'm drunk/high"

Quit while you're ahead mate.

You aren't that bad then.

No, that's pretty normal. What's not normal around here is your attention-seeking post.

I'm sort of worried about my health, I've noticed that exercising at a high intensity has become harder. Alcohol is terrible for your body, isn't it?

I feel you man. But try going to more house parties or calmer pubs with your buddies, or just sitting around with some guys having a couple of beers. Way better than clubs if you ask me.
Drinking at home by yourself like any addiction isn't a problem until it starts interfering with your regular life. If you're able to manage your addictions, then don't worry about it. But if you don't have the self-discipline to stop yourself even when you know it'll have consequences, you should probably quit now.

You're healthy lad. It's these fools that can't enjoy themselves without the validation of others' opinions that are the problem.

They crave acceptance, but fear judgement, so both go out in packs, and then only drink to mitigate their fear of pack rejection.

You don't suffer from that group psychosis, so can choose a night to enjoy the beauty of drunkenness, amazing music and happy dancing without the fear that you might not be part of the gang.

They're drinking more than you and dancing less freely. Don't let their need to justify their screwed up lives interfere with your joyful dancing without social equivocation.

She looks annoyingly cute and happy. Probably because people have been nice to her all her life for being a cute girl. I hope all that dancing makes her ovaries fall out.

I have no idea how easy or hard her life has been. All I know is there are millions of girls that *you* would judge to be *prettier* than her. But *you* and *I* aren't posting about them.

Have a think about why, and show some love lad.

Try just listening to music, reading and movie watching without the booze. Also try having 1 drink, 1 followup drink, and then forgetting it for the rest of the night.Maybe you could seek out something social on these bored nights, actual live music venues or something stimulating like a game night or trivia, or like an adult softball league. Running club. Enjoy the relaxation, and then stop before intoxication. If you can't stop, you have a problem. Your path is the path everyone takes to become dependent and it's like 90% of alcoholics that do your style of drinking.

You could deny that you do have a problem and let the problem fully develop into something you have consequences for, a horrible lifelong addiction you find hard to shake, or some other ailment, medically. Alcohol does NOT give an "energetic rush" but is rather a CNS depressant, so maybe you have a disorder already, like inadequate enzymes to process it, or a blood sugar issue.

The fact that you think THC is anti-inflammatory and that it somehow helps you leads me to believe you are self-medicating already. What are you medicating? Do you have problems relaxing? Do you have anxiety and stress? Did you have a childhood issue with ADHD? Depression? Do you have sleep-wake cycle issues? Figure out how to treat that properly and medically and avoid all homebrew ideas in the meantime.

Is slamming back alcohol until the bottle is gone bad for you? WTF? How do you not understand the processing of alcohol. Did you skip chemistry and anatomy? It's too much too fast. It's dangerous. Get an arrhythmia, have a stroke, or just fall down and smash your head and pass out alone.

>I'm sort of worried about my health,

Drink the next 20 years every day then you might develop some noticeable long term organ damage. The more immediate effects of heavy alcohol use is things like heart palpitations and high blood pressure when abstaining from alcohol which is not heart damage but your nerves firing more heavy electric current , this is why it's more "healthy" and less damaging for the body to stay on alcohol rather than having periods on and off it since the periods without alcohol you are frying your nervous system with the stronger electric current. Whether or not you develop some serious health complications is mostly genetics, some smoke their whole lifes without getting any serious health issues others get lung cancer or heart failure.

Yes you are an alcoholic, you're coming on to 4chan to ask other people in order to validate that what you are doing and what you are becoming is 'okay'.

The answer is no, you're willfully poisoning your body over and over with high quantities of hard liquor. Some of these idiots might tell you that it's fine and that you won't damage your liver unless you do it daily for 20 years. Try visiting your doctor or some kind of health care professional so you can ask what kind of damage you're doing to your body. It takes a long time for your liver to recover from having even one good night out. So yeah repeatedly drinking until drunk, smoking and using drugs is not good behavior.

Do you want to be an alcoholic? Continue what you're doing, you're well on your way. Just don't come crying that we didn't warn you when you start posting in the al/ck/ thread.

When you start drinking a fifth of liquor every night like I do, then you might be an alcoholic. When you start drinking in the morning in while working, you're on a slippery slope. At least I can still function and work 60hrs/week.

>> No.10378960

You're a homo, I can tell you that for sure

>> No.10378968

>>10376692
You may enjoy it for a while, but 99% of the time this will only get worse for you. Drinking a fifth in a day, twice a week is also a crazy high amount of alcohol unless you're enormous, or already an alcoholic. Given a fifth has 16 or 17 shots, drinking two fifths a week is 32 drinks, which is as much liquor as having 5 beers a day every day of the week. It probably leaves you less likely to develop alcohol dependence because you're spending 3 or 4 days a week with little alcohol in your system, but it might actually be worse in some regards because it's rougher on the liver to try to metabolize all that alcohol at once.

>> No.10378999

>>10378968
*nearly as much liquor as 5 beers a day. That'd be 35 drinks, although you could be over that depending on the proof of your liquor of choice.

Because when the biggest challenge you've ever faced is "don't eat another tub of ice cream", the idea of resisting probably seems outrageous. The way men might look at becoming a pro athlete, or earing your first million before 30.
