We eat bugs that are good to eat, namely crustaceans. Spiders are hairy on the outside and slime on the inside, and insects are just like crunchy grass. And not even good crunchy, they're like overcooked french fries that have been in the fryer for an hour and it's just dessicated and hollow. I ate ant eggs at a Mexican restaurant and I thought they were incredibly delicious, but I have to think most don't taste like that (crickets weren't very good). If insects could be worked into something resembling ground meat that tasted good and was cheap I could see more people eating it but that's not likely to happen any time soon simply because most people dislike the very idea of eating insects.
