I can't tell if it makes me more evolved or less evolved

Less evolved. The ability to digest lactose past infancy isn't associated with a loss of the ability to digest something else. Is this a beneficial adaptation, or not?

Since the genes for Lactose Tolerance only came up in select populations that had access to milk, but didn't figure out how to process it into yogurt or cheese, its technically more evolved, but only came from less advanced regions of the world. Rate of adaptation is a very poor marker of weather or not a organism is better or worse. Orangutans have more changes to their DNA since our last common ancestor. Onions have more strands of DNA than humans.

Typically mammals lose the ability to digest lactose as they are more able to forage food for themselves. Part of natures way of saying 'don't depend on your mother for too long'.

I'm not lactose intolerant I don't think but milk constipates me and hurts my digestive tract for the next day or so. It's weird.

ackchyually, it is. northern europeans (and particularly northwest) have the highest rates of high iron levels in the world.

It's probably similar for other lactose digesting populations.

Because lactose digestion = evolved on milk = evolved on high calcium = effectively low iron diet since calcium inhibits the absorption of iron.

So lactose tolerant people necessarily evolved higher than average iron levels to compensate for evolutionary iron inhibition.

This means you'll get more health consequences from eating red meat and other high iron foods regularly.
