Not a fan. I grew up eating quite a bit of mexican, indian, malay, and thai food since the city we lived in was only like 30% white. I'm used to flavorful food so I don't need to overcompensate using ridiculous practical joke peppers.

Good chiles have a variety of flavors other than just "hot". I assume if you grow up on a diet of ranch and white bread, you can't taste those other flavors, since your mouth is calibrated for just the flavors of HFCS and carrageenan.

I like them. I use one habanero when I make chili, and half of one when I make pizza sauce. I also use bullet chilis a lot.

I don't understand the point of eating things like habanero peppers (let alone ghost chilies or carolina reapers). How can you taste anything through the intense burning sensation? Is it like a masochistic thing where you get pleasure from the pain of eating them?

Super hot peppers can have a flavor profile that mix incredibly well with fruits.

Ghost pepper is a good example of this. Mixes with pears well.

Why use a small amount of super hot peppers when you can use a larger amount of milder peppers and get more flavor?

The best curries I've had use habanero, which isn't retarded hot. Ghost peppers are best used to ward away animals that can fuck your shit up.

Habaneros aren't that hot dude. I made 5 qts of habanero hot sauce and one of tabasco last summer and I can drown a food in either one and get only a very slight burn. I don't go hotter than habanero though, that super hot shit is just silly edgy teenage dick measuring and I'm far too old for that. Anything beyond habanero is overkill generally. There are exceptions though. Habanero is the hottest pepper I can eat raw whole off the stem and not die

super hot are not a spice. they are a chemical factory for capsaicin. the heat should complement the flavor. anything beyond jalapeno is just whatever you are acclimated to. eating is not a contest. and eating contests are insane.

I prefer actually being able to taste food instead of having my tastebuds chemically burnt such that a chef can put any piece of shit on my plate and tell me it's good.

It depends on the pepper. Most of the superhots have a nice citrus flavor and aroma compound that goes along with their spicyness. The flavorless heat bombs are ass, though.

Each bite felt. I can almost imagine it was like being shot. I learned to stay near the couch and only take a section of a chip with the bowls on the table because my vision would blur horribly if not blank and I'd sometimes collapse. But I'd keep grabbing more despite sometimes vomiting. The adrenaline abuse is too enjoyable.

I never have access to fresh peppers so I use alot of sauce. El yucateco extra hot goes on everything. I like the taste of ghost pepper sauces in my curries.

My local supermarket charges the same price for every chilli - $22/kg. So I get the hottest one and only use a little bit. It's pretty value. My dad can't eat my food though.

Although fully digestible, it probably isn't healthy to do extreme peppers all of the time. It depletes your Substance-P, and the precursors to building that back up, over and over, which is also a GI stimulant. Purposefully working to create faster motility makes zero sense. It's like everyone wants gastritis to evolve to full blown IBS, reflux -> barrets esophagus, and poor nutrition from incomplete digestion and fun times gastric dumping.
Burning up your tastebuds is an equally stupid practice. You might as well go ahead and smoke, abuse alcohol, snort damaging chemicals, or chew tobacco and other stupidity that is counterintuitive to enjoyment of your food.

From a chef's or spice flavoring perspective, (being able to) using more peppers gives more flavor. Raising scoville units doesn't add flavor. So, in reality, the milder peppers contribute more to the party since you can use as much as you desire and actually taste the gloriousness of pepper flavor.

Super hot peppers tend to have little to no actual flavor beyond burning.
Habanaro peppers actually have a great mix of flavor and heat without just being 99% heat like ghost chilis and beyond.

This was my dinner. Boneless tenders half Buffalo Grandpa (habanero buffalo) and half Holy Mole (dark chocolate mole with scorpian peppers. Plus coleslaw and bleu cheese. Extremely spicy but it only enhances the flavor.

i've never had anything with reaper or scorpion pepper that's actually good because its made for retard capsaicin junkies. i swear every sauce i've had is just reapers onions and carrots and that's boring as fuck. i can mostly handle ghost peppers and they actually have a really great fragrant almost thai flavor but they aren't "super hot"

well my take is that it is a nightshade and nightshades damage the gut lining and can lead to leaky gut. So i have cut out all nightshades from my diet, which sucks because I love my pickled bell peppers and tomato sauce and eggplants and cayenne powder. I've cut them out of my life since december and still have unopened jars of bell peppers that I am hanging onto until i either have the guts to toss them out or give them away.

the projecting is insane in this thread. do you really have to come shit up threads just because you dont like/handle spicy food? there are more intense flavors in spicier peppers, which really can come out over the spiciness of the pepper, which usually isn't even hot unless your just gonna eat the thing raw.

I wish I could get other peppers than habenero around where I go to school, I like making salsas and sauces as of recent.
