>but is it worth it? do you really want to be them?

Of course, despite this thread and this site, I still want to be normal. Part of me wants to do well by myself, my family, my God, my community and my peers, climb my career, become more intertwined with my hobbies, and raise a loving family. The other half wants to forget all that mess, crawl into a bottle and snort cocaine while eating percocet and molly, playing video games.

This is the dichotomy of the human condition, body and soul. The body wants to fuse with the world, while soul wants to escape from it, and this is the primary internal tension that causes inner struggle and conflict. To destroy one to keep the other is a fake solution, at the cost of being a mutilated human being.

Now excuse me while I go grab a beer.

That's true but you're eating more than twice the safe levels and have the alcohol as a compounding factor. Even if you're not drinking now the fact that you used to puts you at higher risk.

I know doctors won't give you a damned thing once you're on that list, though.

I switched to being a beer alck and found a 6-month internship in the literal middle of buttfucking nowhere. It's an IT job so human contact is very limited, I have no car and no driver's license, and there are no bus lines either. The nearest town is at an hour and a half on foot, so I can't go buy alcohol. The company's hotel has a strict rule on not serving interns alcohol at the restaurant's bar, and it is constantly recorded by a camera. So no fucking alcohol at all for six months. I fly jets for a living. I can control my drinking to not drink much the night before a flight (Sundays are much harder because I'm hungover from Fri/Sat and drinking cures the hangover and helps me sleep from staying in bed past noon) but after a flying day I generally down a six pack of a high ABV IPA (9% or so) because I'm just so excited to get drunk again. 12 hours bottle to throttle I've been able to do fine, but not always following the "without any effects of alcohol" thing since I've had very slight hangovers that turn much worse when at high altitude. AIr Force has such a crazy drinking culture that is doesn't help any either, but it's better than 60 years ago where people would regularly drink all night, get 4 hours of sleep, try to chug coffee and smoke cigarettes to sober up, then crash aircraft at an incredibly high rate.

A lot of them get into it because they either A) enjoy a power trip, or B) were disrespected when they were young and want respect. So basically, just don't be an asshole and you'll almost always get off lighter

Super, super drunk. Been drinking bourbon on an empty stomach since yesterday. Had a guy come in to fix a broken spring on my garage door so I could get out to buy more cigarettes. Offered him a taste of bourbon for the ride home, he respectfully declined.

Woo-hoo! I still have a bottle to kill, two packs of cigarettes, and nothing to do tomorrow! Man, I miss just being a pot smoker. Alcohol's a pain in the ass.

Not all....

Some want to help people.

My brother is a LT in the state police, Genuinely a good dude even though I don't like his career choice. He saved two peoples lives before he ever thought about becoming a cop (as a teenager). Was never bullied, was never a dick growing up.

You could call him every name in the book and he would still try to help you the best he could. Not all people become police officers because they are power tripping or were bullied as kids.

I asked him once "what gets you off or a warning if you're caught doing something illegal" and he said "honesty".

As long as someone cooperates and is friendly and honest, he almost always just gives a warning (unless it's like 20+mph over the speed limit). Sorry man, I have FSX which I messed around with before pilot training but haven't played since then. I bet youtube has decent tutorials for it but it will probably take a lot of time watching and learning. Honestly the hardest part of IFR flying for me was listening to instructions from controllers and remembering it and being able to speak well on the radio, but that's not really a problem in a flight sim. Reading the charts is super easy when you figure it out.

If you're looking for charts, go to skyvector.com. You can plot routes from VORTAC to VORTAC by typing in beginning destination and each VORTAC identifier along the way, it is super nice. You can look at every type of chart there is (recommend world lo if looking for VORTACS and V routes, doing it old school, world hi if using higher altitude for more major VORTACS.) I admire that you're trying to use the old ways, but most times now everything is GPS direct nowadays because it is far more efficient since it is a straight line. Might have to fly a STAR if going into a heavily populated area like class B airspace but other than that it is point to point by GPS. Hilarious when USAF is conducting GPS jamming exercises because none of the airline pilots remember how to use VORs for navigation and their GPS antennaes aren't military grade to protect against jamming, so lots of bitching.

Damn, that was an unexpectedly profound statement in a drunk thread. So freakin' true, especially when they broadcast those cops in situations where they end up shooting an armed person, and everyone in the media goes nuts calling them racist and whatnot . That's fairly long. If you're able to handle the self control, I'd recommend knocking one off per day. 12, 11, 10, 9 etc. Even though 12 a day isn't huge in alkie terms, doing that for a year really conditions your body for it, if you're able to control it and taper slowly, you'll have a lot less withdrawal symptoms

Honestly the reading charts isn't that bad, once you figure it out it's easy. In skyvector plotting a route, set KSAT as departure (San Antonio) and KOKC (Oklahoma City) as destination. Type SAT V163 JEN V17 IRW in the route and it gets you all the way, which you can see those routes by looking at the world lo and seeing the most direct route. Skyvector will then give an outlined route the entire way with VORTACs at each area and can look at the lines to see the course to set for each segment and the lines also tell you when to switch from one VORTAC to the next.

Never go into a relationship hiding anything or lying about anything, It will never work out in the long run.

My brother is getting a divorce and is going to lose about ~210k dollars this year between the house and a car they bought together because he lied about things and refused to change for his wife.

On about 6 months with current girl and she doesn't know I drink as much as I do and she doesn't know I dip either. Lives about an hour away so only see each other during weekends normally. Every time I drive to see her I'm on the tobacco but drink an energy drink as well along the way to overpower the tobacco taste, when she drives here I brush my teeth when I know she's 10 minutes away or so. When we're together I can be fine with 1-2 beers for the night but when she leaves or when I drive back home I immediately drink to make up for it and put a dip in between each drink to keep me awake until I pass out at my computer pretty much. If we spend an entire weekend together (uncommon because of her work) it gets really difficult towards the end and I can't wait until she's gone so I can get some tobacco and alcohol in.

I understand that, it makes it scary thinking about a future with her. It sucks because she's a really sweet girl, but she's really never had any vices. Spent school never partying, has never blacked out, only puked once and from a very small amount of drinks, has a doctorate, so we're not the same at all. I think she loves me enough now that I could tell her about my vices and it would be okay for a bit but maybe not forever, she's very infatuated with me. Of course that infatuation will only last so long, so maybe better to confess my vices now rather than later.

Flew props back in the day, started with C172 and C152 when I was 17. Started from the bottom now I'm here. Also the T-6 that USAF uses for UPT is an 1100HP turboprop, quite a shitload of torque on that so lots of rudder required, lot's of fun though for aerobatics.

We always fly with inert missiles on, and the inert AIM-9 has a real seeker in it so you can uncage the missile and see if it actually locks onto the heat source with a valid tone and see if it is flare rejecting or not. That's useful for validation in "kills" called. We also sometimes fly with concrete bombs for real target practice without the explosive fillers due to range restrictions. Even put laser guidance kits and GPS/INS guidance kits on the concrete bombs sometimes too, so dropping a 200 dollar piece of concrete with 50k-100k dollars of electronics strapped onto it for practice and validation of the accuracy of the bombs. The weight and drag makes a HUGE difference for flying.

>>10250708
Won't be retired for the foreseeable future. Only US asset that can carry something like 20 small diameter bombs (250lbs very high accuracy bombs) or 7 JDAMS (6 500lbs, 1 2000lbs) and also carry 4 air to air missiles. Can fight your way into the target area, drop, and fight your way out pretty easily when against other 4th gen assets. I love this jet.

T-6 has a somewhat automatic rudder trim but you still have to use a ton of rudder during takeoff with the p-factor. You can manually set rudder trim too but I never used it much. With high powered prop planes you just develop a feel for using rudder to counteract p-factor, definitely more difficult in flight sims when you don't have the real feeling of the forces acting on you.

1/2 - Oh but the ride does end.. either way you loose but alcohol sure speeds up your appointment with death and makes the meeting horrifically painful.

Am stil in a clinic recovering from my last severe dehydration and poisoning. Was two days in the ICU just to have my heart stabilized. Took days to re-hydrate me.

I buy a lot of alcohol and hardly ever leave my "bed" because of depression-light. My room is dark, filthy and depressing - and there I stay, drinking bottle after bottle, sometimes two bottles per day. Its not the first time I land in the hospital (or psychiatry or jail) but this time was a very close call.

My friend, who is a doctor is very well aware of my severe drinking problem and has a key to my apartment - for those times where I am too retarded to operate a cellphone and anser his calls.

Had 'bunkered' well up with whisky and was drinking hard for several days and after a week or so, I became to weak to get out of bed for water. Had not eaten in days. Only liquid I had around me was whiskey. After dehydration begun setting in, I shouted for help - but my cries for help were not heard beyond those thick concrete walls.

2/2 - Day two of the dehydration was horribly painful and I tried crawl out of the mattress to the toilet to get water - but passed out right next to the mattress on the cold, hard floor. Gained consciousness but half my body was paralyzed from laying on the hard floor. Blood flow was restricted and nerves were being pinched.

I kept on crying for help and managed to drag myself back onto the mattress at day three - by now, I was in a very bad state. It was at this point where my doctor and friend locked himself into my apartment and when he found me, he called the ambulance right away. I remember flashes and sparks of the coming 48 hours.

Hospital did an amazing job of getting me on my feet but the 'hell' I went through was truly terrifying. I had bad hallucinations and the doctors pumped me full of benzodiazepines via the IV drip. The doctors gave me barbiturates to knock me out – those backfired and made the hallucinations a lot worse.

Have had myself some very bad days, yet, I am more determined than ever to fight my alcoholism. The clinic I am at is providing excellent counseling and rehabilitation. I am not depressed and I will make it. I will make it.

Also I'm a virgin and have never had a gf. My life is in the hardcore doldrums right now and I've lost the vision of ever living a normal life. Having been way more sober recently, I don't think life is complete shit either, but for me it certainly is completely empty. Ever since my friends as well as I moved all over the country, I really have nothing in life besides my mom and dad. I feel too old and niche in my ways to ever think about making new friends once I start working again, and I honestly have no idea where to start with women still even though I've done a few things with a couple in college. Never sex or a real relationship though. Whenever I think about using the internet or something like Tinder to meet a girl in the future, I just hate the idea of it so much.
And aside from those things, I really don't enjoy anything anymore aside from playing music, I've done that for a long time and have a handful of instruments but my skills plateaued years ago and I never ever have been one to practice or try to improve. I just naturally got better and better until I stopped.
Still want to drink a couple of 5% seltzers in a day and sometimes a couple glasses of wine, and it makes a huge difference turning on my interest for things again, but I've just really got nothing, like jack shit going on. At least I'm not constantly consumed by panic and fear and sickness all the time though I guess.

You gotta stop drinking to get rid of the anxiety. The anxiety will last for like 2 weeks after you stop drinking. Source: I'm a lawyer, and we drink too much.

Weed helps. I'm in a legalized state though. Seriously your only out is cold turkey and then drink in moderation (2 drinks max) after a year of clean living. getting shitfaced all the time is fun but it's a young man's game. the toll on your health starts to get really bad at around 30. take a antihistamine for the itching, like zyrtec. it's liver safe and really helps. there''s nothing you can do about the shakes or sweats other than tough it out or take benzos, which is honestly not that great an idea if you're an addict already. it might prevent you from having a seizure though.

worst part of withdrawl for me was the auditory hallucinations (can't sleep, noises startle you) and the sleep paralysis/mini-seizures. That shit only lasts a couple of days thankfully. I had one so bad that I fell out of my bed but couldn't move for like 20 minutes.

Ah to clarify i'm not entirely crazy. I was renting a room. We thought our neighbour wanted to catch us on smoking weed; since its not allowed and my gf wasn't very polite to him, but drinking was allowed, he is/was probably here on this board as well, because he was a good cook and drank every day.

Don't worry I didn't think you were crazy dude. Especially in this thread I don't think others here would think so either.

Sounds like you need to hit some Benzos when you get high. That takes away any bad feelings/paranoia and you just feel mega baked.

None of the things I shared are fiction. I am an 40 year old alcoholic. I have been in hospitals, locked up in the psychiatry and jailed countless times. This was my last visit to the ER - this time I will make it.

Of being constantly drunk without stopping?

I don't think that is possible. You need to sleep, so you will wake up in that hazy drunk/hungover way. I usually just start again in the early afternoon and a few drinks back in to it I'm feeling it again.

it's just going to suck for like 2 weeks. force yourself to eat stuff with lots of fiber and drink as much water as you can.

>>10254432
general cycle when I was drinking: start around 5 PM, drink continuously until around 1 AM, pass out stone cold drunk. Wake up the next day, piss about two liters of fluid out, chug water and coffee all day long to try and fight the booze coma. I only drank hard liquor. Beer turns your stomach inside out and wine leads to the worst hangovers imaginable. There's a sweet spot in this cycle where I was still able to hold a job for several years. With enough coffee I could dick around at work until feeling better around lunch and then get shit done.

I'm not trying to be an asshole but I've heard people say a week, but I would say it's just more than 3 days.

In a bender you would go to sleep wasted, wake up with a noticeable buzz, then keep drinking all without ever returning to being sober. Repeat for x amount of days
